Chapter Ten: Extensive Clarification of Remembrance. Chapter Ten: Extensive Clarification of Remembrance. Now, in order to accomplish the wondrous needs of a yogi, a concise method for achieving a risen corpse (ro langs) will be explained. The method for the great risen corpse is: "Then, it will be accurately explained." Here, "corpse" means devoid of consciousness. "Risen" means blessed by another, as if possessing consciousness. "Great" means fully accomplished and causing fear. "The method of achievement" refers to those that will appear below. "Then" means immediately after Chapter Nine. "Accurately" means without deception. To make it clear, it is said, "will be explained." Achievement is the omniscient wisdom. Because it becomes its companion, it is excellent. It accomplishes all the favorable conditions for consciousness, that is, it accomplishes various needs that are in accordance with the mind. So, relying on what does one accomplish it well? "Excellent, undamaged, without wounds, suspended on a tree, having been untied, laid down and well-washed, there one sits, reciting mantras, a disciplined yogi." Here, "excellent" refers to a Brahmin, that is, the corpse of a male. "Undamaged" means not damaged by birds or jackals. "Without wounds" means not struck by weapons such as axes, nor festered and decayed by smallpox or eye diseases. "Suspended on a tree" means bound to a Khadira tree. "Having been untied" means having been taken down from the tree's platform and well-washed with odorless, clean water. "There one sits" means laying the corpse down with its head facing south, at the heart. "Reciting mantras" means very fiercely and with wrath. "A disciplined yogi" refers to the yogi of Yama, the Lord of Death, black, holding a terrifying curved knife and skull in his hand, bent and submissive, offering incense and flowers to it, and also giving toothpicks and the like. The wrathful deity residing on it proclaims the greatness of the mantra's nature: "Emaho, wondrous power of mantra! The unthinking one cries out in agony!" Here, "Emaho" means wondrous! Why? It is the power of mantra and samadhi. "Unthinking" refers to the dead. The sign is the occurrence of crying out in extremely intense and unbearable agony. That itself becomes an obstacle, approaching
