Chapter Eight: Explaining in Detail the Ritual of Fire Offering Chapter Eight: Explaining in Detail the Ritual of Fire Offering. Now, it will be explained how the empowerment ritual becomes complete. Then, the King Vajradhara said, "To apply the protective wheel, in order to subdue obstacles and wrong views, and for the sake of the violent ones." Thus it is said. "Then" refers to the time of preparation when the master, with the pride of being Yama's terminator, holds the vajra and bell together in his hand, and while uttering "Hum," the disciples, with the pride of the four wheels, make supplications in the aftermath. "Vajra" is the four wisdoms, and the one who possesses them is the "holder." "King" is the chief. "Protection" means that all obstacles cannot overcome it. "Wheel" means to fully combine samadhi and mantra. "Obstacles" are those that arise from the body. "Wrong views" are those that arise from speech. "The violent ones" are those that arise from the mind. "Subdue" means to completely cut off those aspects. "For the sake of" refers to the necessity of protecting against obstacles, and it is spoken for that purpose. These verses should also be practiced: "I, the glorious sword-holder, apply the protective wheel. With the nature of the blazing sword, I also cut off those born from the three families." Thus it is said. "Glorious" means to perfectly accomplish the benefit of oneself and others. "Sword" means it is merely symbolized for the auspiciousness of the activity, but in those places, the vajra, wheel, jewel, and lotus are placed, and then the verses are recited. "Holder" means that the Blessed One himself holds the vajra and so forth. "I" means to become the body of all the Tathagatas. "Applying the protective wheel" has already been explained. "Blazing sword" means possessing the power of wisdom of diligent activity. It also includes the blazing vajra and so forth. The three families of its nature are body, speech, and mind, born from the vajra. "Also" means that if even these can be cut off and destroyed, what need is there to mention the fear of others? After these, in order for the earth goddess to abide even more,
