The Difficult Commentary on the Glorious Yamāntaka Tantra, called "The Manifestation of Coemergence." Śrīdhara. The Difficult Commentary on the Glorious Yamāntaka Tantra, called "The Manifestation of Coemergence." Śrīdhara. First Division. Explanation of Abhisamaya. In Indian language: Śrīyamāritantrapañjikāsahajālokanāma. In Tibetan language: The Difficult Commentary on the Glorious Yamāntaka Tantra, called "The Manifestation of Coemergence." Homage to the noble Mañjuśrīkumārabhūta! Homage to the Omniscient One! Homage to the gurus of all things! I bow to the profound Vajradhara. The difficult commentary on the glorious Yamāntaka, I write "The Manifestation of Coemergence." Even to the wise who discern with scripture and valid cognition, it is hidden; what need to mention the deluded like me who do not even know the mere words? However, whatever little meaning is gained from hearing the profound words of the guru, I shall remember its meaning with complete diligence. Since all those with discernment enter upon seeing the need, therefore, first, as a branch of entering, in order to accomplish the cause of attaining the uncommon fruit, the ability to accomplish it should be stated. Whatever, all treatises and some of all actions, unless the need is stated, who would take them up? Thus it is taught. Since it is not possible to understand without explaining the connection and the speaker, the connection and the speaker should also be explained. Since it is not possible to accomplish without means, the means should also be explained. Among these, the cause of the supreme happiness of oneself and others, the Bhagavan Yamāntaka Black Tantra itself, should be spoken of here; this is the need here. That which definitely shows it, that is also the speaker, just as the deeds of the Buddha are shown by poetry, so in the tantra also it is called Yamāntaka Black. The relationship between the speaker and the spoken, the nature of the speaker and the spoken, is also shown by the force of meaning. Here, the means are also three: taking refuge, generating bodhicitta, and the four yogas of obtaining empowerment by entering the mandala, etc.

It is characterized by meditation, because it makes me manifestly become the nature of that. Therefore, it is neither truly real nor truly unreal. Whatever is deeply meditated upon, when the power of meditation is perfected, that is the fruit of clear and unconfused wisdom. Thus it is taught. If it is asked how this is uncommon, it should be said that everything also engages for the sake of happiness by itself. That is to say, because of not knowing what should be abandoned and what should be cultivated, the tirthikas engage merely by desiring the happiness of gods and humans. They throw themselves into water and fire, eat leaves and barley, beg from one person or beg from two people, and so on, doing things that harm the body. Even if they practice for a while with those ascetic practices, there is no fruit of happiness. Because of what? Suffering and so on distract the mind, Due to distraction, accomplishment turns into something else, Without accomplishment, it is samsara, Samsara causes the creation of hell. Thus it is said. The Shravakas and so on also, because they do not fully know the suchness of all things, know that the happiness without aggregates is supreme, and thus they will surely attain nirvana for themselves. Those who practice the Paramita Vehicle, even if they engage in generosity and so on, always have the same taste of emptiness, and because the enjoyment is complete and the Nirmanakaya is non-dual. Because of weak compassion, they themselves mainly focus on nirvana. The ultimate of the Paramitas, which is non-retrogression, is also not Buddhahood, for if it were, it would be a fault to become a Buddha on the tenth Bhumi. Furthermore, even if the profound meaning is directly realized, there is no benefit for sentient beings. If it is thought that all beings are nourished nearly to survival, that is the omniscient wisdom, but it is not the cause of entering the ultimate of selflessness, because it is only an antidote to conceptualization. That is also, Mere non-existence devoid of means, Is not something to be accomplished, Because there is no ability to accomplish the benefit of self and others, It is like a flower in the sky. Thus it is taught. Generosity and so on are through the door of means and so on.
