The Explanation of the Oral Instructions on Meditating on Suchness in the Second Stage, Called "Beautiful Flower," by Vitapada. The Explanation of the Oral Instructions on Meditating on Suchness in the Second Stage, Called "Beautiful Flower." Vitapada. In Sanskrit: Sukusumanama Dvikatramatatvabhavanukha Agamasadabyaprtti. In Tibetan: The Explanation of the Oral Instructions on Meditating on Suchness in the Second Stage, Called "Beautiful Flower." Homage to the Omniscient One! Glorious, possessing bliss and completion, profound clarity, non-duality, radiant with light, Its nature is peaceful, blazing with sixteen and a half flames. That ultimate essence, the excellent three gurus who reveal it, To them, with equal action, effort, and object, I constantly pay homage. With this first verse, our great Lama Lha Sangye Pawa Yeshe Zhap's presence, in order to gather the oral instructions of the Bodhisattva Manjushri, and to avert obstacles and fulfill aspirations, begins the offering, for the sake of following the virtuous ones. Among these, the words "glorious, possessing" and so on, indicate the objects of offering in order, namely the Buddha, the Dharma of his nature, and the precious Sangha who reveals it. The words "action, effort" and so on, indicate the means of offering. Among these, first, "glorious, possessing" indicates the complete cause. The words "bliss and completion" and so on, indicate the complete result. Among these, "bliss and completion" indicates the Sambhogakaya. "Profound clarity, non-duality" indicates the Dharmakaya. "Radiant with light" indicates the Nirmanakaya. "Its nature is peaceful" indicates the Dharma of nature. "Blazing with sixteen and a half flames" indicates the Dharma to be expressed. "That ultimate essence" indicates the distinction to be made. "The excellent three gurus" indicates the Sangha to be distinguished. "With equal action, effort, and object" indicates the excellent means. "Constantly pay homage" indicates the unchanging means. This is a brief general meaning.

It should be understood in this way. Among them, "Glorious" refers to the accumulation of merit and wisdom. What is that? It is generosity and so on, which is the practice of the pāramitās. Combined with the support and the supported, as well as suchness, this is for yogis such as beginners. Those who have practiced extremely well, possessing excellent mudrās and rituals, this is for perfect yogis. This should also be understood elsewhere, and whoever possesses these is called "Possessing Glory." Because all-knowing wisdom arises from the two accumulations. "Blissful Perfection" refers to the most excellent of all bliss. That is, it arises from the wisdom of joy, and is completely pure, adorned with marks and signs, like the body of the essence of bodhicitta, completely purifying the beings to be tamed, constantly perfecting the supreme enjoyment, and always abiding. "Profound and Clear Non-duality" refers to the inseparability of the unconditioned and the conditioned. That is, the object that can be realized with one experience, but not the agent, which does not change in the three times, and is unfathomable, that is the unconditioned. Wisdom abides continuously moment by moment, and arises through reason, and always merges into its own nature, that is the conditioned. When these two are inseparable like water and milk, that is the wisdom of intermediate joy, which is completely pure. "Possessing Rays of Light" is synonymous with "emanation." That is, for as long as existence exists, it is pure for that long, and it can also be impure, acting in accordance with their wishes, such as the form of Śākyamuni Buddha, or the manifestation of the means of the wheel of the mandala, etc. Whoever possesses the pure wisdom of joy and detachment is called that. "Its Nature is Peaceful" refers to the Dharmadhātu, the unconditioned. Abiding in the nature of those, the characteristics of dependent origination, etc., are peaceful from the very beginning, not obtained through the path. "Sixteen and a Half Burning" refers to the meaning of bindu. That is, sixteen refers to the vowel letters. Its half refers to the last bindu, that is the meaning. That is, stirring the places through practice.
