Chapter Seven: An Explanation of the Supreme Conduct of Mantras. Chapter Seven: An Explanation of the Supreme Conduct of Mantras. The meaning of this chapter is the supreme recitation, its nature is indicated by the recitation of accomplishments, fields, and signs. Accomplishment is the yoga of the wheel-turner. Field is the six limbs of union, because their essence is made into the field of supreme accomplishment. Sign is the distinction between vows and omens in dreams, because it is the cause of accomplishment and shows accomplishment. These are the recitations, all of which are shown in the four chapters, therefore it is the occasion that is spoken. From "then" and so on, the lord of body and so on is because in every way he generates, protects and shows them. Mantra is the six limbs of union, because it knows and protects. The vows that are in accordance with the six limbs are conduct, and practicing together with mantras is the conduct of mantras. When enlightenment comes from this, it is the vow, the five families. The common characteristic of these is Vajradhara, which is the great vow. These six are the very essence, therefore the great vow is also the very essence, and it is also the practice of mantras, so it is the practice of mantras of the very essence of the great vow. The best of these is the first of the methods, which is the meaning of recitation. Perfect enlightenment is to know all of them completely and correctly, and the chapter on its meaning is called that. Among them, the first three verses speak of the conduct of the three causes of quickly accomplishing enlightenment, because the Buddhas have allowed it, because it is a means of offering to the Buddhas, and because it is in accordance with samadhi, in that order.
