Chapter Seventeen. A Commentary Called "The King of Blessings of the Vajra, the Samaya and Vows of All Tathagatas." Chapter Seventeen. A Commentary Called "The King of Blessings of the Vajra, the Samaya and Vows of All Tathagatas." In order to show that from keeping the vows as spoken, one will manifestly transform into the desired accomplishment, Chapter Seventeen is spoken, which begins with "Then." In order to keep the vows of all the Tathagatas, a request is made. Because it is the nature of beginningless and endless wisdom, it is great wisdom. Because it is the cause of generating the body vajra and so on, it is the vajra realm. Because all dharmas are comprehended without impurity, it is the great wise one. Because it is supreme among the three bodies and so on, it is the supreme vajra three. Because it possesses the nature of the three mandalas, it is the three mandalas. "Vajra Voice" means to say the vows and so on, and to pay homage. This is a praise of Vajrasattva's immovable nature. The verses spoken in the manner of a mirror and so on begin with "Vairochana." Because one has attained the wisdom of completely pure desire's paramita, it is called the desire paramita. Thus, each verse shows the nature of the five families of the Tathagatas, and these are spoken at the appropriate time because they are without the elaboration of teaching. The nature of the dharma realm itself is the great letter, and that is related to all Buddhas. In order to explain that itself by the distinctions of body vajra and so on, it is spoken beginning with "Then." The four vows are to protect against killing and so on. The five meats and so on are the vows to be eaten. After the body vajra's vows are spoken, the respective vows of speech vajra and mind vajra are also spoken, beginning with "Then." The four vows and so on should be explained as before. Keeping these vows, that itself will be accomplished, otherwise it will not be accomplished. How is it? Approaching and gathering is the body.

These are called speech-mind vajra and so on. The vows of the Pratyekabuddha are spoken from "then on," etc. This is only an explanation of the nature of the Pratyekabuddha itself. The collection of causes for obtaining it should also be understood as the collection of siddhis of vidyadharas and so on. Here, it is not combined as the collection of causes for the accomplishment of Mahamudra. Because it is the realization of such a principle, it is the siddhi of the Pratyekabuddha. The same should be applied to the Shravakas and so on. "Those who abandon wisdom" refers to the Shravakas and so on who are separated from non-dual wisdom. In "by the path of delusion," delusion is the separation from the notion of self and other, that is, whatever is meditated upon as the action of that path. Because it causes fear to arise in the Shravakas and so on, it is fearful and disgusting, and by this, they mutually transform into Buddhas. The ritual for that is this: As it is, in accordance with the teachings of Brahma arising from the letter ཨཾ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari: अं, Romanized Sanskrit: aṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: ཨཾ་), possessing four faces and so on. After the Vajradhara has accomplished the empowerment, one remains until the time one wishes to manifest, and after that, from contemplating the body vajra and so on, one becomes the nature of the great seal of the body vajra itself, which has become the means of accomplishing that meaning. Similarly, for the fierce vow, one should also combine it as in the ritual, arising from the letter ཨ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari: अ, Romanized Sanskrit: a, Literal Chinese meaning: ཨ་). Similarly, for the vow of Vishnu, one should also view it as arising from the letter ཧཱུྃ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari: हुं, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: ཧཱུྃ་), possessing the lineage of the family of anger. The differentiation of the families for gathering these together is spoken from "then on," etc. The nature of the yakshinis is spoken from "then on," etc. Most of them are yakshinis with the nature of eating flesh and drinking blood, so one should make offerings in this way and practice as in the ritual, this is the intention. Similarly, what is spoken from "then on," etc., is for the purpose of accomplishing the nature of the daughters of the Naga kings and so on. Those who wish to accomplish the siddhi of Mahamudra should also practice all these vows as in the ritual.
