One should not trust the deceitful. Boasting of mantras and filled with pride upon seeing scriptures. To those without faith and with deficient empowerment, one should not speak of the order of words. Thus it is said. To a disciple like sandalwood, one should not speak of this order of words. What is that like? Disparaging the lama is being lazy, the deceitful is being deceptive, the faithless is again full of hatred, likewise, boasting after only knowing mantras is being arrogant, likewise, seeing scriptures is thinking that one does not need to hear scriptures, does not need to have them, etc., the faithless in their hearts are those who do not like the Dharma, and those with deficient empowerment are those who have only received the empowerment of knowledge. To those who have not received the unsurpassed empowerment, this order should not be shown, because they are not vessels. In order to explain the characteristics of a vessel, for those who have respect and faith in the lama, for those who are always diligent in serving with devotion, for those who can remember what they have heard, O noble lama, there is no need to examine whether to bestow grace upon them. Thus it is said. For a person like a jewel, there is no need to examine whether the lama bestows grace, the meaning of the order should be quickly shown. What is that like? Having faith is being delighted in truth and the Three Jewels, etc., likewise, respecting the lama is being fascinated by the reverence of the Vajra Master, likewise, being able to remember what one has heard is not forgetting the Dharma spoken once, and being able to remember it until the end of life. As it is said: Those who are pure in discipline, intelligent and upright, possessing wisdom and having a single lineage, and who can show well after hearing, are called precious people. Thus it arises. In order to explain the greatness brought about by the lama's kindness, if something from the summit of Mount Meru is going to fall, even if one thinks it will not fall, it will fall. Having received the prophecy of the benefit of the lama's kindness, even if one thinks one will not be liberated, one will be liberated. Thus it is said. Just as a person standing on the top of a mountain will fall even if they do not want to fall, similarly, a disciple who has received the lama's kindness will be liberated even if they do not want to be liberated. So, here for a moment, the hairs stand on end.

Therefore, the vajra descent symbolized by gestures such as "va" is not the actual teaching of the mantra, because it is uncertain. Uncertainty means that even for those oppressed by desire and sorrow, phenomena such as slight trembling of the body and bristling of hair may occur. It cannot be symbolized through verbal teachings either, because it is the source of conceptual thought. Non-conceptual thought and conceptual thought are mutually contradictory, and if it is claimed that non-conceptual thought can be demonstrated, then it falls into the fault of being conceptual. For example, it is like saying "do not remember," but the prohibition of remembering is itself a form of remembering. If one closes one's eyes and meditates on Suchness to attain it, that is impossible, because the characteristic of pervading everything will be lost. Because Suchness exists in one place, it pervades all things that move and do not move. If it exists, then meditation is unnecessary. If it does not exist, then meditation is also useless. If the two parts are combined, contradictory phenomena will arise, therefore one should not meditate. Therefore, what is the kindness of the guru like? It is said that this great mantra vehicle is the four mudras taught by glorious Bodhicitta Vajra. Among them, three mudras are means, and the last fourth mudra is the result. Among these, when any of the karma mudras, etc., are entrusted to the disciple, the disciple, through experiencing appearances, etc., together with it, realizes luminosity, and through analogy and what arises from analogy, with the reasoning of subject and nature, recognizes that the Dharmakaya is just this, and abides in the realm of non-conceptualization. Having arisen from that, one should again abide for a thousand kalpas with diligence in wisdom. At the time of arising, in order to clarify the Suchness taught by the teacher, one should speak accordingly, because Suchness is self-born. Merely demonstrating it, not creating it, because it is flawless. From the "Commentary on the Five Stages, Clarifying the Meaning of the Stages," the first chapter on the Order of Vajra Recitation is complete. First. The Order of Vajra Recitation.
