The Commentary on the Five Stages, by Bhavyakirti. The Commentary on the Five Stages. By Bhavyakirti. Explaining the Condensed Practice Sequence. In Sanskrit: Pancakramapancika Nama. In Tibetan: Called "The Commentary on the Difficult Points of the Five Stages." Homage to all Buddhas! Here, first, I will briefly explain how to meditate on the condensed practice from the sequences composed by the great teacher Nagarjuna. First, sit on a soft cushion in the vajra posture. From the white HUM (藏文:ཧཱུཾ།,梵文天城体:हुँ,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽) at the heart center, rays of light emanate, inviting the Buddhas and others who reside in the sky. Make offerings and prostrations. Then, meditate on emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness in sequence. , and by focusing on emptiness, eliminate the ordinary self-grasping. Instantly perfect yourself as the form of Vajrasattva. Recite the mantra called "Vajradhrka." By this, generate Akshobhya and absorb it into yourself. In this way, abide in the samadhi of wrathful vajra. Then, begin the protection of the place. First, emanate the ten wrathful deities and place them in the location. Second, command the propitiating deity with its own mantra, and after commanding with the mantra, again with that same mantra, command the obstructing forces to be obtained by the propitiating deity's kīla. Then, by reciting this mantra: Ṭakki HUM JAH (藏文:ཊཀྐི་ཧཱུཾ་ཛཿ།), imagine the kīla being driven into pits of iron, burning fire, and winds, and also externally. Inside that, make a vajra net born from the letter HUM (藏文:ཧཱུཾ།,梵文天城体:हुँ,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽), like a stupa. Make the armor of the three syllables. Regard the ground as being entirely made of various vajras born from the letter HUM (藏文:ཧཱུཾ།,梵文天城体:हुँ,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽), and contemplate emptiness with the meaning of the words such as "without substance." Then, the wind mandala born from YAM, shaped like a bow, supreme and pure, marked with vajras born from HUM Likewise, the mandalas of fire, water, and the great powerful one as well. On top of that is the letter BHRAM.

From which arises the palace, various tiered mansions, with seats of the moon and sun on lotuses. Then, emanate the nature of the thirty-two deities, as well as the lord Vajradhara, the great one, and the wheel of the mandala. Then, the mandala practitioners, with the nature of the aggregates, etc., dissolve into the aggregates, etc., of the lord, and contemplate entering the ultimate mandala, reciting: Om Shunyatajnana Vajra Svabhava Atmako 'Ham. Om, emptiness-wisdom vajra, self-nature I). Then, with the letters Hum, Om, Ah Hum Om Ah), stack the sun and moon and the red eight-petaled lotus from top to bottom. Above the lotus are the three letters. Then, from the collection of all, contemplate the moon of one's own mind, place all sentient beings in that moon, and recite the mantra: Om Dharmadhatu Svabhava Atmako 'Ham Om, dharma-realm, self-nature I). Then, again on the moon are the three letters. From that arises the vajra. From the vajra, contemplate the great Vajradhara, the first great protector, then place Akshobhya, etc., and establish them, etc. To that, the letters Om Ah Hum Svaha Om Ah Hum Svaha) are established on the head, etc. Establish them on the mantras of Moha-Gauri, etc. On the eyes, etc., establish: Thlim, Om, Om, Hum, Maim, Sam, Am. On the hands, etc., establish the self-nature letter Hum of Yamantaka, etc. To that, on the left and right wrists, establish Yamantaka and Aparajita. On the mouth, establish Hayagriva. In the secret place, establish the swirling nectar. On the left and right arms, establish Achala and Kama-raja. On the left and right knees, establish Nila-danda and Mahabala. On the head, establish Chakravartin-ushnisha. On the feet, establish Bhadra-mani. Similarly, the body, speech, and mind should also be blessed, and in the heart of the Samaya-sattva, contemplate the Jnana-sattva, two-handed, red in color, holding a vajra and bell, in a state of equipoise. In its heart, also establish the letter Hum, contemplate the Dhyana-sattva. Then, purify the external embodied one, or the aggregates, etc., of the wisdom mudra, and by the union of vajra and lotus, enter into equipoise with it. To that, from the letter Hum arises the vajra point.
