Dwelling in the ultimate truth, giving alms, keeping precepts, patience, and wisdom, even that will not lead to liberation. A yogi who is separated from meditation, constantly engages in practices, but becomes bound by the very practices themselves. Practice without skillful means is like an iron cage. All phenomena are illusions of the mind, whatever appears is the nature of the mind itself. When the mind is seen as something different, then the appearance is like seeing two moons. Seeing something different within the undifferentiated is meaningless, like the child of a barren woman. When one first sees, all phenomena appear as illusions of the mind. The mind of ultimate truth has no beginning, no end, and no middle. The mind has no nature of phenomena, seeing this is seeing the nature of mind. Thus it is said. Initially, through the combination of karma, that is, the yoga of the generation stage and Vajra recitation. The eighth bhumi is attainable, which is the stage of intermediate patience. It is also said that through generation and recitation, one abides in the stage of intermediate patience. Thus it is said. Seeing the three appearances is generating the three wisdoms. What will be the result? One will abide in the ten bhumis. That is the son. Having well attained perfect enlightenment, that is, having obtained luminosity. What does one do? One approaches the pure realm. That is, one obtains the Dharmakaya. Not turning back from the Buddha-field means not turning back from samsara. In this very life, one knows all, that is, in this very life, one becomes endowed with the distinction of knowing all. Dharmadhatu perfectly enlightened, that is, the cause of perfect enlightenment. Great pleasure such as attachment, that is, the dharma of desire. Dharmadhatu perfectly enlightened, by what means is it obtained? That is, knowing the means of generating the wisdom of yoga. Where will one manifest enlightenment? That is, understanding what means. Unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, that is, desiring unsurpassed perfect enlightenment. How should one act? Through practices such as those with elaboration. That is, practices are of three kinds, or nine kinds, or inconceivable kinds. What does that practice do? It should be connected with the student. With what does one learn?

The yogi, endowed with samadhi, learns. Thus it is combined. "The nature of being pure from the beginning," this refers to that which is free from conceptualization. "If it is accomplished by its own nature," this means if one realizes or manifests purity by its own nature. "What is the use of the practice of learning?" This means that practice is meaningless. "From conceptualization, suchness does not arise," this means that suchness does not arise from conceptualization. "If someone realizes it in this way here," this means that if any yogi realizes the ultimate meaning of practice. "Wisdom is abandoned in stages," this means that the ultimate meaning is abandoned. "What does it do and why?" This is because it is contradictory to abandonment. The rest is easy to understand. From the "Clear Explanation of the Difficult Points of the Five Stages," this is the explanation of the Second Stage. The Explanation of the Second Stage.
