A Commentary on the Stages of Vajra Recitation. A Commentary on the Stages of Vajra Recitation. What is called Vajra Recitation is not something to be uttered orally, but because it is indivisible from others and is one with emptiness. Recitation is to be contemplated only by the mind. The stages of familiarizing oneself with this are the deity's body and retinue arising from the practice of the generation stage, with its abbreviated stages and elaborations. Vajra recitation is also practiced in this way, becoming familiar, and since it is initially taught as a branch of it, the generation stage is established. In this way, it is considered close to the purity of practice gathered in solitude, and thus, abiding in the samadhi of speech vajra, transcending the generation stage, one seeks the solitude of the mind, as it is said. Completing entirely in an instant, focusing on the deity's body in an instant, is the completion stage. Relying on this, it is said in the condensed practice: The complete solitude of speech is not the realm of practice for those practicing the generation stage. Thus it is said. The completion stage of all kinds is the union body. This is the method of meditating on it, and because one meditates in the manner of completing in an instant, it is Vajra Recitation, and the illusory deity's body and the clear light are absorbed, which is the completion stage. In this way, by transforming into the nature of the deity in an instant, initially actions and speech, etc., and pacifying and other activities, the essence of all that is done, the path of explanation, and the life force abiding in all places of sight, throat, and body, and the downward-clearing, the equal-dwelling, and the upward-moving and pervasive nature, and the Nilu abiding in the eye faculty, etc., and the turtle and the tortoise, and the Devas, and the wealth-born, and the nature of the ten kinds of changing consciousness-winds should be observed. That is also the nature of the mind, Bodhicitta, which has become one taste in conventional and ultimate truth, that is the intention, as predicted by Nagarjuna: Wind is Bodhicitta, it abides in various ways from the sky. Again, it is said: This is the nature of Bodhicitta, it is inseparable and equal to the aggregates, etc. By the union of wisdom and means, all beings become Bodhicitta.

Thus, just as it is the non-dual mind of the aggregates and so on, so it is also wind. Thereafter, as long as there are worldly expressions, likewise various permanent phenomena, that which arises in the Bodhicitta, is always conceptual wind and so on. As it is said, it is to show the intention of the teachings. Since the cause of conceptualization is wind, the one who possesses the nature of conceptualization within is the Vajra recitation. That is, the three syllables Om (Tibetan: ཨོཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ओ, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ, Literal meaning: Om), Ah (Tibetan: ཨཱཿ, Sanskrit Devanagari: आः, Sanskrit Romanization: āḥ, Literal meaning: Ah), Hum (Tibetan: ཧཱུཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Literal meaning: Hum), fully knowing them as the nature of the breath entering, abiding, and arising, is learning what is the object of the mantra. Having gained stability in that, fully knowing the object of the mind as it is, thereby in the characteristics of body, speech, and mind, the wisdom, means, and the knowledge of the object, in the manner of one taste, in the nature of mind, the Samadhi of the illusory body of the deity, in the relative truth, one definitely practices by focusing on body, speech, and mind. It is attained. Purifying that together with the habitual tendencies is entering the clear light ultimate truth. Thereafter, having made the relative truth and the ultimate truth as one, in the nature of causeless wisdom, like the Vajra Samadhi, the sequence of the continuous union is the yoga of the completion stage. That also, the ultimate nature of delusion, is the ground of Vajradhara. Initially, in the stage of the cause, since one meditates with faith in that, it is said to be the complete yoga, this is the condensed meaning with the lineage. The tip of the nose is the nostril of the nasal sense. Since it is a traveler, it is like a mustard seed, it is as subtle as a mustard seed, therefore it is wind. The travelers are the letters E (Tibetan: ཨེ) and Hum (Tibetan: ཧཱུཾ). The non-traveler is the letter Ah (Tibetan: ཨཱཿ). The abode of wisdom is, because of the combination of the three wisdoms of appearance, the increase of appearance, and the attainment of appearance. The supreme one, because it possesses colors such as white. The secret one, because it is not the object of those who only meditate on the generation stage of the deity. The wisdom examination is, because it is the nature of clear light wisdom. The five colors are the nature of the Tathagatas such as Vairochana, the essence of the five such as mirror-like wisdom,
