Explanation of the Perfection Stage Explanation of the Perfection Stage Having thus extensively explained the generation stage, now, what is the practice of the perfection stage? The practice of the perfection stage is to be known as fivefold. This is both the perfection stage and the fivefold, therefore this is the five stages. What are they? Vajra recitation and focusing on the mind, illusory body, clear light, union. Clear light and so on will be explained below. If a yogi does not know how many kinds of vajra recitation and so on there are and asks what the perfection stage is, the answer is: Vajra recitation and so on are to be known as fivefold. That is, from vajra recitation to union. Among them, what is the order of vajra recitation? Therefore, it is said: Essence and distinction, definitive word and synonyms, which dharmas are possessed, eliminating others, continuum and time, characteristics and object of focus, friend and place and preliminary, support and incompatible antidote, difference between ground and abandonment, nature, accomplishment, conduct, boundary and measure of familiarity, ultimate measure and recognition, difference and fruit. Among them, what is the essence? If one does not know, it is said: The samadhi with the object of arising and dissolving is considered the essence of the first. This means that the samadhi that focuses on arising, dissolving, and abiding is considered to be its essence. Others, such as wisdom, the single bindu, and clear light, are implicitly clear here. How many distinctions are there? There are three ways: upper, lower, and middle. Thus, focusing on the upper is the upper vajra recitation. Focusing on the lower is the lower vajra recitation. Focusing on the heart is the middle vajra recitation. Among them, what is the upper vajra recitation? The first has already been described. Speaking in terms of the lower: The way of changing breath and senses, this is to be known as two. That is, training the breath with what, and likewise training other senses such as the eyes, this is the second. How many senses are there? In the practice of the eyes and so on, letters and bindus are not...

Should be practiced. The so-called eye faculty, ear faculty, nose faculty, tongue faculty, body faculty, etc., are to practice these. And each one should practice the body image, hand gestures, bindu, glyphs, and so on. So, what is its support? It is to rely on the white or other colors residing on the eyes and so on, and the veins with the appearance of open lotuses. As it says: Relying on the appearance of open lotuses, contemplate its form. This is what is said. Why should we stop the movement of its roots? Because, whatever the eyes and so on, for the forms of color and so on, do not move from the eyes, therefore it is said so. This is to prevent the attachment to the forms of objects from the eyes to the body, so it is said so. So how is this done? As it says: Arising from it, entering and abiding. That is, focusing on the bindu and so on of the five faculties, focusing the mind on this, one should practice the two of arising, entering, and abiding. What are the two abidings? Abiding in the place of arising and entering, the root and the tip. That is, relying on the place of arising, that which abides at the tip, first focusing on the seed syllable of the root, by the power of the breath arising from it, in the form of a line, or rosary, or light, dissolving into the tip, the arising is interrupted, and focusing on its own form, is the abiding relying on the place of arising. From that, in what way it gathers and appears in its own place, is the abiding relying on the place of entering. The eyes and ears and tongue, the crown of the body and so on, wherever the roots are open, the veins have the color of faith, at the tip each abides with the same kind of vajra, jewel, lotus, sword, cross, wheel, or Om (藏文:ཨོཾ,梵文天城体:ओम्,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ,汉语字面意思:Om), Ah (藏文:ཨཱཿ,梵文天城体:आः,梵文罗马拟音:āḥ,汉语字面意思:Ah), Hum (藏文:ཧཱུཾ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:Hum) and Svaha (藏文:སྭཱ་ཧཱ།,梵文天城体:स्वाहा,梵文罗马拟音:svāhā,汉语字面意思:Svaha), Ham (藏文:ཧཾ,梵文天城体:हं,梵文罗马拟音:haṃ,汉语字面意思:Ham), the tip abides with these. And also the bindu of the rosary and so on. This is the concluding verse. Furthermore, what is the so-called stopping the movement of breath? Wherever the ear's hole, the place where breaths completely move, it is said so because of focusing on it. That is, focusing on the tip of the nose.
