Explanation of the Path of Maturation Explanation of the Path of Maturation Explanation of the Vase Empowerment In Sanskrit: Samāja Abhisamaya Alaṅkāra Vṛtti. In Tibetan: Commentary on the Ornament of Manifest Realization of the Secret Assembly. Homage to the Bhagavan Vajrasattva! Whoever has passed into deep darkness, without a true lamp. To make that lamp, the supreme one is born from constant joy. Paying homage to that Bhagavan Vajrasattva, the meaning of manifest realization is explained by Chandrakirti. All mantras, when summarized, are of two types. Therefore, to explain it, it includes the path and the fruit. Thus, the path and the fruit are only two. Then, doesn't the nature of yoga become three? It does not become three, because those of the Mahayana lineage are gathered into means by obtaining the seed. If someone does not know what is meant by the path and the fruit, then, as the basis, it is the path. What relies on what is the path, namely wisdom and samadhi. Wisdom is knowing the path of maturation and liberation as it is. One-pointedness upon that which is thoroughly distinguished by wisdom is samadhi. The fruit is the three kayas, etc. What is the path? It is explained: The path should be known as two. The path is also two, because it is two, so there are two paths. That is, the nature of entering, the nature of relying, the nature of bliss, the nature of abandoning suffering, the nature of abandoning the union of one and three, the nature of obtaining, and the nature of abandoning. What are those two? They are maturation and liberation. What matures is the nature of making the continuum suitable, hence it is the path of maturation. The path of liberation is the nature of liberating from the aggregates of suffering. What then is the cause of maturation? The cause of maturation is said to be two, so there are two, so it is two. What are the two? It is considered the main practice and its companions. The cause of maturation is two: the main practice of maturation and its companion practice. Among them, the main cause of maturation is the principal.

That is a companion. Then, what is meant by "thing"? The phrase "mature things are of four kinds" indicates that there are four here, so these are four kinds. What are these four? "The vase and the secret, and wisdom, are the fourth wisdom." This means the vase is the empowerment of the vase. Similarly, add "self-empowerment" to everything. Why are there four like that? It is like this, for the sake of the three places and their results, or for the sake of the four things such as time. Then, what is there in the vase empowerment? "Among them, there are also thirty distinctions in the vase empowerment." This means there are thirty here, so it is thirty. It is both the vase empowerment and thirty, so it is thirty. As much as there is in the vase, there is also in the secret and wisdom, prajna. If someone asks, what are those? The answer is: "Nature and difference, etc." First, for some initial practitioners, they doubt whether nature exists, or whether it is real. For example, they might think, "There is no nature here." Or, "There is nature here, but it is not its nature." Or, "Is there nature here or not?" To counter these, nature is spoken of. Similarly, to counter the situation where there is nature but no certainty arises, definite words are spoken. To counter the thought that "this is only this, and not others," difference is spoken of. To counter the thought that "these are different," names are spoken of. To counter the situation of becoming another form, having many dharmas is spoken of. To counter becoming another situation, eliminating others is spoken of. To counter the thought that there is no cause, cause is spoken of. To counter the thought that there was no vase and no fruit of the vase in the past, the basis is spoken of. To counter not knowing where to do it, the place is spoken of. To counter not knowing when to do it, the time is spoken of. To counter not knowing who is doing it, the teacher is spoken of. To counter not knowing who he is doing it to, the disciple is spoken of. To counter not knowing what thing to do it to, the thing is spoken of. Similarly, to counter not knowing to whom and in what way the empowerment is given, the order of empowerment is spoken of. To counter not knowing in what way the empowerment is given, the means is spoken of. Similarly, where
