Chapter Ten: Extensive Explanation Called "Inspiring the Essence of All Tathagatas" Chapter Ten: Extensive Explanation Called "Inspiring the Essence of All Tathagatas" Beginning the commentary on Chapter Ten with "Abiding in the Supreme and the Ordinary Practice," etc. Therefore, this is the meaning: The yogi who meditates on the two stages, accomplished by Chapter Six, and in practices with elaboration, etc., strives from Chapter Seven onwards, and likewise, Chapters Eight and Nine are devoted to secret empowerments and vows, so the Tathagatas do not see, and because of the intermediate faculties, when one has not attained accomplishment, then, in order to accomplish the accomplishment of one's own deity, inspiring the essence of one's own deity, such as Vajradhara, is to first agitate the power of his heart, causing it to enter into one's own being, so Chapter Ten should be started with this. The condensed meaning of this chapter is: If a yogi of the generation stage constantly meditates for a year, six months, three months, two months, or half a month, and if he does not attain accomplishment at any time, then at that time he will be accomplished by inspiring the essence of all Tathagatas. Why? The Blessed One, Akshobhya, and other Tathagatas, experiencing bliss and heart-bliss in the Buddha-fields such as Abhirati, playing together with their own mudras, knowing and abiding in the great bliss of the nature of non-elaboration, do not look upon the practitioner who is only devoted to mantras. Because they do not see, the practitioner does not attain accomplishment. Therefore, in order for them to look upon the practitioner, one should meditate on inspiring the essence. There are four methods for this: goodness, giving, distinction, and explanation. Among them, the order of goodness is as follows: First of all, the yogi, endowed with the yoga of the deity he wishes to manifest, radiates a mass of light from the seed-bindu in the heart of the wisdom-being, and that itself transforms into Rupavajri and others.

Having transformed into the form of a celestial goddess, pervading the realm of space, and having attained the Buddha-fields of Supreme Joy and so forth, one should supplicate with sweet words and graceful demeanor: "O Bhagavan, Tathagatas, all of you, the practitioner named so-and-so, having faith in you and following you, therefore, for the sake of taking him into your care, please quickly look upon him." Having completed this supplication, offered the offerings, and then with the order of gathering back, one should cause them to enter into the bindu of the seed-syllable of the wisdom-being in one's own heart, which is excellent. If, having done so, it is still not accomplished, then at that time one should begin the method of giving in this way. The order of that is as before, the yogi emanates a mass of light from the bindu of the seed-syllable of the wisdom-being, and that itself transforms into the form of offering goddesses such as Flower Vajra-ma, and abiding in the Buddha-field of Supreme Joy and so forth, one makes offerings to the Tathagatas, Heart Vajradhara and so forth. Praising with gentle words and so forth, and having made outer, inner, and secret offerings, and having stated the name of the practitioner, one supplicates the Bhagavan, thinking of turning back, and again with the order of gathering back, one should enter into the bindu of one's own nature, which is the method of giving. If even by that the accomplishment does not become clear, then at that time, as before, from the bindu of the seed-syllable of the wisdom-being in one's own heart, one emanates the Black One, with three faces and six arms, whose faces are transformed, extending the left, holding a noose, an iron hook, a club, a vajra, a bell, and a threatening gesture, the king of wrathful ones, Destroyer of Harm, thinking of receiving the command. Then one should give the command to that: "O Tathagatas abiding in the Buddha-fields of Supreme Joy and so forth, please receive the supplication!" Then that having gone, abiding in the center of space, having seen the Immovable One and so forth abiding in the Buddha-fields, absorbed in samadhi, one should think of making this request: "So-and-so, the Vajra-holder, Delighted in your teaching, Quickly seeking accomplishment, Please supplicate for that one."
