Chapter Eighteen: The Teaching on Praise and the Teaching on the One Who Asked for the Meaning of the Subsequent Tantra. Chapter Eighteen: The Teaching on Praise and the Teaching on the One Who Asked for the Meaning of the Subsequent Tantra. In Sanskrit: Sarva Guhya Pratipadika. In Tibetan: The Extensive Explanation that Liberates All Secrets. Homage to the Glorious Vajra Sharp One. Emptiness, utterly empty, Great emptiness, all is empty. In union with Vajrasattva, I shall explain the Subsequent Tantra. Of the tantra of the secret union of the body, speech, and mind of all the Tathagatas, this Subsequent Tantra clearly shows all the meanings of the seventeen chapters of the root tantra above, and also expands on the meanings that are not complete, and shows the distinctions of each chapter, and in order to show that the main meaning of this king of tantras is the practice of pacification, therefore, it is said, "Then," and so on. The meaning of this eighteenth chapter is also the teaching on praise and the teaching on the one who asked for the meaning of the subsequent tantra. The teaching on praise is further divided into three: the completion of the root tantra, the praise of the inseparable basis and dependent, the praise of the Tathagata after all doubts have been resolved, and the praise by way of summarizing all the meanings of the tantra. In that, regarding "Then," etc., the meaning of the word "Atha" is an auspicious word, it is the connection at the time of explaining the subsequent tantra after the completion of the root tantra, it is the meaning of the letters. "Atha" refers to Akaro Mukham Sarva Dharmanam (藏文,梵文天城体:,梵文罗马拟音:,汉语字面意思:), which means that all dharmas are without self-nature, it is the collection of wisdom. "Tha" is the collection of merit. The tantra that shows the two accumulations. This is the general meaning. "A" is the lotus of wisdom, it also generates the dharmadhatu. "Tha" is the vajra of skillful means, it is the hidden meaning. "A" is unborn, perfectly pure wisdom. "Tha" is impartial compassion, it is the ultimate explanation. Regarding "Maitreya," etc., Maitreya is a bodhisattva who is only one lifetime away, he asked for the tantra for the benefit of future beings, it is the meaning of straightforwardness. Maitreya is the great Vajradhara himself, with great love for all sentient beings.

In order to clarify the root tantra through that means, he manifested as an entourage and inquired, which is the definite meaning. The Bodhisattva will be explained below. The Tathagata is called such because he has gone to suchness, hence he is called Tathagata, which is the general meaning. The Tathagata is called such because when he arises, he is extremely fearful of the future, so he acts in such a way as to become a Tathagata, which is the hidden meaning. The Tathagata is called such because he possesses perfect wisdom, hence he is the Tathagata, which is the ultimate explanation. Empowerment and so on will also be explained below. All things are called such because they are realized by one's own complete wisdom, so one understands the meaning of the nature of reality as it is, and sees through hearing without error, hears through thinking, and comprehends through meditation. This is the meaning of "to". Dharma refers to the aggregates and so on. Seeing means that everything is empty. All of these refers to the nature of all the Buddhas of the ten directions. When gathered together, it is the great Vajradhara, so it is said. Now, among the three praises, the first is to praise the completion of the root tantra, so "Emaho" and so on are said. "Emaho" refers to the rarity of explaining the root tantra of the secret assembly. What is rare? Samantabhadra is called the great Vajradhara who is free from all conceptual elaborations. His body, speech, and mind are Vairochana, Amitabha, and Akshobhya respectively. By the three vajras of those three, it means that the body, speech, and mind vajras of those three are universally present. The equality of body, speech, and mind of all the Tathagatas refers to focusing on the illusory state without saying anything. All sentient beings in the three times, truly arise as the nature of vajra. It means that the body and Vairochana of all sentient beings are not the support and the supported, but are complete in suchness, and it shows the inseparability of the incomplete body and speech, similarly, whatever is speech and mind in the three realms is Amitabha and Akshobhya.
