Explanation of the Meaning of Chapter Two Explanation of the Meaning of Chapter Two ༄། །If one enters the path with thousands of non-objectifications, one cannot discern the precious jewel, and those who do not understand its teachings and benefits also enter it, but do not encounter it. Thus, those who do not understand the general and specific characteristics and the self-nature of themselves do not see the true meaning, and since they do not know the individual benefits, why do they enter? Therefore, in the second chapter, the basis of what is to be known, the distinctions of view, and the accompanying benefits are taught. Thus, in the root tantra it is said: All directions are completely distinguished, Self-nature and essence are free from bondage, Coarse defilements are all practiced, Liberation is transformed into subtle ignorance of view. Alas, if one's own self is not seen, What else will one see and know? Thus it is said. Among them, the first is the general characteristic of the view: This is the yogi, the Bhagavan, Vajrasattva, the Tathagata, all Buddhas equally united, the supreme bliss of the illusory Dakini. The nature of the indivisibility of method and wisdom, this body of great bliss is the nature of yoga, destroying the hosts of demons and so on, which are the signs of dualistic thought, and possessing mastery over all the arrangements of excellent qualities, there is no other distinction of qualities, it is spontaneously accomplished by its own nature, and dwells in the manner of being manifested by realization. In the manner of the two, meaning and sign, Vajrasattva dwells without beginning or end, transcending body, speech, and mind, the thusness of oneself, the body, speech, and mind of the Tathagata, abiding in the vajra, uniting equally with all the Buddhas, abiding in the state of the illusory Dakini. Thus, in the Condensed Contemplation it is said: Mind is without beginning or end, Vajrasattva is great joy, Samantabhadra is the lord of all, Vajra essence is the chief of chiefs. Because there is no beginning or end, it is also called the first of the holy ones, because it is the lord of all mandalas, it is the sovereign of the holy ones. Thus, it dwells in the manner of two Buddhas. Thus, through the door of one aspect of conventional truth, in the Seventh Chapter of Contemplation it is said: The supreme body has marks and signs, Qualities are uninterrupted, clear appearance.
