From the seat of the deceased, the eastern petal is the Auspicious Garland Mother. The north is the Skull-bearing Mother. The west is the Terrifying Mother. The south is the Unconquerable Mother. On the directionally separated petals such as the Powerful One, the skull cups filled with semen, dust, the five ambrosias, and the five lamps are placed clockwise. This is the first layer, the eight-petaled lotus surrounded by a garland of blue vajras. Then the second layer, the eight-petaled lotus residing on the red eight-spoked lotus, surrounded by a garland of red vajras that is clearly visible like a long strip on the outside. On its eastern petal is the Auspicious Belt Mother. The north is the Form-possessing Mother. The west is the Completely Victorious Mother. The south is the Action Mother. In the Powerful One direction is the Time Mother. In the fire direction is the Great Ocean Mother. In the Truthless direction is the Making Mother. In the wind direction is the Killing Action Mother. Then the third layer, the eight-petaled lotus residing on the white eight-spoked lotus, surrounded by a garland of white vajras. On its eastern petal is the Vajra Tara-possessing Mother. The north is the Terrifying Sight Mother. The west is the Well-seeing Mother. The south is the Unconquerable Mother. In the Powerful One direction is the Auspicious Mother. In the fire direction is the Shadow-suppressing Mother. In the Truthless direction is the Time Sign Mother. In the wind direction is the Great Fame Mother. Then at the eastern gate, the Beautiful Mother on the lotus. The north is the Treasure-holding Mother on the lotus. The west is the Fortunate Mother on the lotus. The south is the Joyful Sight Mother on the lotus. All of these hold a curved knife and a skull cup in the branches of their right and other hands, their lips trembling with thoughts of the master, slightly showing their teeth, one face, wearing directional garments, adorned with bone ornaments, without a garland of heads, their hair standing up like straw, burning upwards in a reddish-yellow color, dripping semen from extreme attachment, dancing in a half-lotus posture on the solar forms like newly opened Mandarava flowers. The gate-protecting mothers stand with their right leg extended in a lunar stance. All of them wear tiger skin loincloths, all blazing with light, streams of blood dripping from their mouths, three-eyed, possessing the demeanor of coquetry and other assemblies, endowed with bodies the color of newly broken Indra-nila gems. Alternatively, the four, such as the Well-garlanded Mother, are black. The mothers of the second layer are white and yellow. The mothers residing in the third layer are green.
