The Mandala Ritual of the Practice Method of the Great Illusion. Kukuripa. The Mandala Ritual of the Practice Method of the Great Illusion. Kukuripa. །In Sanskrit: Maha Maya Sadhana Mandala Vidhi. In Tibetan: The Mandala Ritual of the Practice Method of the Great Illusion. Homage to the glorious Vajra Dakini. Homage to the noble Avalokiteshvara. །Homage to the Lord Avalokiteshvara. With a face of eight and a half, the color of clouds at the end of an eon, four hands and two feet pressing on the heart of the demon, entwined with the light of self-awareness, filled with bliss, I bow to Vajradhara, the lord of all Sugatas. For those who are distracted by the waves of conceptual thought and unable to peruse many texts, this text is compiled with reason based on teachings and instructions, briefly summarized for remembrance. First of all, the disciple who is a vessel for empowerment and possesses the qualifications should be: Gentle and sweet-spoken, full of compassion, diligently engaged in virtuous deeds, especially devoted to the Mahayana, constantly respectful to the guru, and delighted in generosity and giving, such a disciple should be accepted. Therefore, a disciple with such qualities should supplicate the guru who is qualified to bestow empowerment. It should be: Stable and disciplined, intelligent, patient, honest, without deceit, skilled in the practice of secret mantra tantras, such a one should draw the mandala. Therefore, one should repeatedly supplicate the guru who possesses such qualities, two or three times. Then, the guru should ask: Do you have the offerings and implements for the mandala, and so on? If he agrees that he has them, then at that time, give the key instructions, accept and protect the disciple. At the soles of the disciple's feet, visualize the wind mandala arising from (Tibetan: ཡཾ, Devanagari: यं, Romanized Sanskrit: yaṃ, literal meaning: yang). At the secret place, visualize the fire mandala arising from (Tibetan: རཾ, Devanagari: रं, Romanized Sanskrit: raṃ, literal meaning: rang). At the heart, visualize the essence of the sins of karma and afflictions, a black (Tibetan: པཾ་མཾ་ཀཾ, Devanagari: पंमं कं, Romanized Sanskrit: paṃ maṃ kaṃ, literal meaning: pam mam kam). Then, with the wind fanning the fire, burn the (Tibetan: ཀཾ, Devanagari: कं, Romanized Sanskrit: kaṃ, literal meaning: kam) at the heart, thereby purifying all the sins and non-virtues of karma and afflictions. After visualizing, establish the three syllables at the three places (body, speech, and mind) of the disciple, and recite mantras with wheels, such as twenty-one, to protect him.

Then, the teacher begins the practice of approaching, arranging the mandala, offerings, and torma, etc. Contemplate the wisdom mandala in the sky and make offerings, etc. Then, with the samadhi of the deity, recite the mantras. Recite one hundred thousand times for the wheel-holder, and recite ten thousand times each for the goddesses. Then, make offerings again, and examine and purify with good friends. That is: temples and market times, gardens, villages, or cities, the eastern and northern parts of the land, place and take equally. Therefore, examine in those places, or purify in cemeteries and forests, etc., wherever the place is pleasing. There are two types: external land purification and internal land purification. There are also two types of external purification: purification by action, and pacifying by making fire offerings of human bone powder, etc., in a peaceful hearth. Among them, purification by action is: That is, dig about knee-deep, and fill it with that soil. If there is excess, it indicates that there is accomplishment. Therefore, dig about knee-deep, remove the faults of the soil, fill it well with that soil, and make it consistent with the scriptures. Then examine the signs of water. That is: dig a round pit one cubit high, smear it with cow urine, and fill it with water. Without distraction, go east with a focused mind, and then return to examine. Therefore, observe the three signs of water, high, medium, and low. Then, fill the pit well with fragrant soil, put five precious jewels and five grains into the soil, smear with five well-placed substances, scatter loose flowers around, and erect flags, umbrellas, and victory banners, etc., in all directions. Sprinkle with water recited with the mantra of all actions, this is purification by action. Internal purification is: With a mind focused inward, recite the mantra of the nature of reality and meditate on emptiness. From that state, visualize the vajra ground arising from the syllable Hūṃ. Bless it with "Oṃ Medinī Vajrī Bhava Vajra Bandha Hūṃ. Then take the soil and arrange the offerings. In the center of the land, abide in the samadhi of the deity, with great compassion.
