The so-called "earth" refers to understanding the characteristics of earth and so on. It is also the maker, collector, and eater. The so-called "is" also refers to the doer of good and non-good deeds, and guides, etc., of the body and so on, because it does these. It is also the collector because it prevents these. It is also the eater because it enjoys the fruits of these. These valid cognitions can infer that the body has mind. Otherwise, engaging in good and evil deeds, etc., would cause the body to become invisible. To show the second reason, the so-called "sense faculty" and so on are mentioned. The so-called "minds of all sense faculties" refers to the various consciousnesses. The so-called "basis" refers to the objects. The so-called "to understand the characteristics" means that the various consciousnesses comprehend the objects, because that is the reason. In order to clarify this point, and in order to prove the word "king of the sense faculties," the so-called "sense king enjoys utilization" and so on are mentioned. If asked what is enjoyed, it is happiness, that is, happiness and so on. Why is that? Because through the utilization of objects and so on, that is, through experiencing the happiness and so on that is close to the objects and sense faculties. The body should rely on wisdom. It is thought that it can also be called the king of the sense faculties by inferring existence. Now, in order to show the valid cognition that all of these are included in consciousness, the so-called "mind is" and so on are mentioned. If water is other, it refers to being different from consciousness. Why doesn't water appear after death? This is to show a damaging valid cognition. The so-called "dead" refers to a corpse. The so-called "no water appears" refers to being invisible. The so-called "why" is a word of distinction, and it will become merely an object. It is thought to be taste. The so-called "body without wisdom" refers to a corpse. The so-called "the breath of the mind does not flow" refers to the invisibility of the flow of wind that moves consciousness. The so-called "will not sink in water" refers to the fact that a dead body has the characteristic of earth, which is heaviness.

This is the reasoning to prove no-self. In order to explain the near acquisition, it is said, "The body has five measures," etc. Because the body with consciousness manifests five measures, this is the meaning of gathering at the root of consciousness. After knowing the one nature, the yogi observes beings. It is said, "After knowing the one nature, the yogi observes beings," etc., meaning that all dharmas are understood as the nature of consciousness, and in order to realize its nature, one should rely on a virtuous friend. The wisdom of objects and senses is bound by austerity. It is said, "The wisdom of objects and senses is bound by austerity," which refers to the consciousness that binds to samsara observing beings. For all objects, the activity of the senses and consciousness is bound by austerity, thereby binding to samsara. Austerity refers to tormenting the body and mind with asceticism and penance, etc. Then, by what kind of binding can one be liberated from samsara? It is said, "Egg-born," etc. The so-called dwelling in the center refers to consciousness, because it dwells in the heart. The so-called egg-born refers to its place being the egg, bound in the place of heart blood like an egg. The union of binding is proclaimed, namely, "Outflow and inflow with the mind, encircling the moving object." The so-called outflow and inflow refers to the exhalation and inhalation of breath. The so-called mind refers to being with consciousness. The so-called moving object refers to wind and consciousness being unstable, combined with what should be bound. Why? Because it is encircling, accustomed to the wind of outflow and inflow. Among "binding," etc., the so-called lotus seat refers to the seat of bliss, namely the lotus in the heart and the lotus of dharma origin. The so-called therefore refers to its reason, namely the samadhi that is preceded by emptiness, etc. To represent the nature of consciousness is to know that everything is merely the appearance of the mind. How does it transform into deity yoga? It is said that the so-called object of nature means that by combining skillful means and wisdom, deity yoga transforms into an object. Now, one should become accustomed to the outflow and inflow of breath.
