My Seat's Explanation. My Seat's Explanation. First Chapter of Divisions. ༄། །In Sanskrit: Śrīcatuḥpīṭhatantrarājasya smṛtini bandhanānāmaṭīkā. In Tibetan: The Explanation of the Glorious Four Seats, King of Tantras, Called the Reason for Remembrance. Homage to the Great Compassionate Noble Avalokiteśvara! Where flowers and fruits of all kinds are abundant, possessing forms and maturing at all times. Mature and pure auspicious fruit trees, exceedingly fragrant and delicious. The four seats, like a forest garden adorned with delightful shade. I pay homage to all that is explained by the words of the Able One, which can be realized through devotion. Although virtues may not be manifest in between. Yet elsewhere, virtues are greatly increased. The Four Seats Tantra, the source of many nectars. Like the roots of lotuses and water lilies. The gods dwelling on the golden mountain. Those with the power to taste nectar, wishing to clarify this meaning. Only those with ability can do so, unlike my own realm of experience. Like deer, elephants, and jewels. Desiring to seize them cannot be accomplished by force. Afflictions from within that dust. Cutting their roots, this is like the cause of wandering. However, just as metals, through the power of medicine. Are transformed into essence, suitable for people to consume. Relying on the words of the Lama, making distinctions. Because of having the ability, here I proceed straight. Sentient beings' minds are various and dissimilar. No one can please them all. For what is taught and in accordance with it. Making the meaning a cause for remembrance. Groups, combinations, signs, and various words. For those who delight in external terms. To adorn the meaning of this precious tantra. May those with wisdom complete it themselves. Here, it is gathered from the essence of the eighteen hundred thousand tantras, the twelve thousand glorious Four Seats Tantra. Therefore, the compiler did not initially establish words such as "Thus I have heard" in this tantra, because it has already been spoken there. Therefore, words such as Yoginī... ༄། །The net of Yoginīs is vast. The Lord of Wisdom, the Empty One. The Omniscient One spoke thus.

English

Adding the word "ཞེས". The so-called "འདི་སྐད་ཅེས" refers to: praising the words spoken by the Bhagavan, which is the word that encompasses all the lineages of the ultimate object of expression and the subject of expression. "གསུངས་" means that the transmission is spoken without inversion, showing and clarifying as it is. Then the lineage of the expressing subject is shown. "གསང་བ་བསྟན་པའི་མཚན་ཉིད་རྣམས། །" etc. show the object of expression, and through them the relationship between the expressing subject and the object of expression is also shown. Here it is manifested according to needs and happiness, and it should be known that its intention is to gather beings. If asked how to show it as it is? The answer is that "ཐམས་ཅད་མཁྱེན་པས་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་" etc. are said, because knowing all things as they are in the way of impermanence etc., it is "ཐམས་ཅད་མཁྱེན་པ་ (Sanskrit: sarvajña, सर्वज्ञ, sarvajna, omniscient)", that is, Bhagavan. This speaks of the perfection of the teacher. The difference is said to be "རྣལ་འབྱོར་མའི་ཞེས་བྱ་" etc. Yoga is the wisdom that is non-dual of method and wisdom, here wisdom is selflessness, and method is completely pure compassion. Just like that, it also says: method and wisdom enter equally, it is called yoga. Which is the wisdom without reality, the nature of things is the method. Because it is said like this. Those who have yoga are the yoginis. The net is the completely pure collection of those. In "སྔོམ་པ་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་ལ", "སཾ" is all sentient beings in samsara, "ཝར" is that they rescue and universally protect those beings, so it is called that.

The perfection of the place was spoken through the means of... "Having dwelt in a pure place." The pure ones are the gods. Because they are protected and saved, it is a place, namely Mount Sumeru. To dwell is to abide there. It means to dwell in a tiered house on top of Mount Sumeru. The term "all-knowing" refers to the perfection of one's own benefit. The term "possessing wisdom, power, and emptiness" refers to the perfection of that lineage. The term "having dwelt in a pure place" refers to the perfection of the benefit of others. The term "net of yoginis gathered" refers to the perfection of that lineage. It is established that they teach without reversing, and thus the purpose of teaching, the teaching, the teacher, and the perfection of the place are taught in order. In order to show the perfection of the retinue there, it is mentioned, "possessing the qualities of training," etc. "Possessing the qualities of training" is Maitreya. "The unpleasant one" is Vajrapani. "The hanging one" is Samantabhadra. "The three-necked one" is Akashagarbha. "Mount Meru" is Nivaranaviskambhin. "The peak of Mount Meru" is Ksitigarbha. "Lotus" is Lokeshvara. "The wide lotus" is Manjushri, because he is the chief of the Bodhisattvas, these eight are mentioned. Eighty million yogic powers are Bodhisattvas, including those who are the chief ones. Looking at Vajrapani from among those who possess that many, he smiled. Smiling is a slight smile with the light of teeth. It is the remainder of "all-knowing." Why? Because the retinue of the Bhagavan knows the minds of others who wish to hear the four glorious seats, and having understood that Vajrapani is able to gather them, he thought, "Let me have them make a request to me." Therefore, by looking at them, he encouraged them and showed the nature of joy by smiling. In order to show that they are preparing to request, it is said, "Immediately after smiling." "Immediately after doing" is the intermediate offering. Because he holds a vajra in his hand, he is called Vajrapani.
