Chapter Twenty-Second: Explanation of Examining Disciples and the Ritual of Vows Chapter Twenty-Second: Explanation of Examining Disciples and the Ritual of Vows ༄། །Therefore, the basis of the path is to abide in samaya. As stated in the first chapter: "The practitioner who is extremely equanimous should always maintain the vows." This is a brief instruction. This chapter explains it in detail. It is also shown from the opposite perspective: "If vows are broken, empowerment and accomplishment will not be attained in the mandala." Also, from the Net Gathering (Drasdompa): "A mantra practitioner without vows will not be protected by the deities. If the vows of the past are maintained, they will be well protected by the wise." The meaning of what is said is that it should be protected, not separated from, eaten, practiced, and the unsurpassed discipline should be shown. Then" refers to the twenty-fifth chapter, following the teaching of the root mantra. Furthermore, for those who abide on the path of Vajrayana, it is especially important to abide in samaya. "To the worlds of beings" refers to the external realms of nagas, humans, and gods. Internally, it refers to the four types of beings who do not dwell in the three places and are unknown. Secretly, it refers to the sphere of activity of the three doors of sentient beings. "Existing or not existing" refers to the profound and vast vows adorned with unsurpassed samaya in the tantras such as the Action Tantras. To show the distinction from others, it is said, "The mantra of Śrī Heruka," which means to protect the consciousness of sentient beings, because the nature of the mantra is inseparable from the deity. "Knowing that nature" means knowing that the suchness of oneself, the deity, the mantra, and wisdom are inseparable, thereby becoming undifferentiated. As taught in other tantras, it is taught without relying on dharanis and vidyas mentioned in other tantras, and even completely abandoning all secret mantras, just as one does not seek the footprints of an elephant after finding the elephant. Now, from the actual meaning of the path, the secret way in which those with lineage abide is revealed. "Arising in order" refers to the sequence from "Extremely Wrathful Mother" to "Great Perseverance Mother." "Reversing the order" refers to the teaching that reverses the order from "Great Perseverance Mother" to "Extremely Wrathful Mother." This is also called "reversing the sequence." These

How does one's own nature abide? "The messenger women, etc." refers to the yoginis. True abiding is to abide in the mandala, inseparable from the heroes. The lower refers to the Naga king of the underworld, such as the caves of the Asuras. The upper refers to those who go in the sky, etc., bestowing siddhis of accomplishment such as swords, and controlling the gods. Or, the lower blazing heat causes the essence of the earth above to descend as nectar. Bestowing siddhis is the spontaneous arising of the experience of bliss and emptiness. "The messenger people, etc." refers to the blazing Candali in the places of the body, etc. True abiding is the inseparability of the channels, bindus, and winds, uniting in bliss. Becoming a four-mudra holder with lineage is that my messengers are all-pervading, the co-emergent messenger mother, the field-born mother, and the mantra-born mother. My bliss pervades the three realms and abides in emptiness, that is it. This is the karma mudra. The bodhicitta obtained from father and mother, that bodhicitta pervades and moves from the crown of the head to the soles of the feet as the support and the supported in one manner, is the dharma mudra. The elements of the body, separating the pure and impure parts, the thirty-two channels pervade everywhere, arising from the power of the wind, is the samaya. One's own body is like an illusion, from that very body, knowing the messengers of lineage as dreamlike illusions, the clear light of the nature of reality pervades from the beginning, thus attaining the mahamudra itself. The benefit arising from that is that the messenger mother bestows siddhis. Thus, from that, the body and mind abide in bliss, without elaboration, is shamatha. Manifesting the great bliss of wisdom is vipashyana. By practicing the four mudras, power arises unimpeded, thus greatly bestowing the sovereignty of siddhis. This is the distinction of accomplishment. Now, in order to show the distinction of manifest faith, the distinction of the yogi's abode is that a person without samaya, practicing in a secluded place, should self-bless, clearly visualizing one's own body as the deity, and take the path of glorious Vajrayogini as the path. Reciting "Tsumbini," etc., by stopping the life-force of the wind, the union of raising the lower wind upwards, especially shaking, the fire mother and sleep mother of the body meet, everything trembles, Roma and Krama two.
