Chapter Nine: Explanation of the Ritual Procedures for the Activities of the Root Mantra. Chapter Nine: Explanation of the Ritual Procedures for the Activities of the Root Mantra. Thus, by gathering the mantras, all the letters are assembled, thereby obtaining the signs of recitation. Either accomplish the siddhi in the mandala itself as previously described, or accomplish it by drawing a wheel from the eight limbs, or accomplish it from a collection of medicines. Therefore, it is taught starting with "from the root mantra." The so-called "supreme path in stages" refers to the stages of worldly, common, and supreme. This will be explained. The so-called "divided into fifty activities" refers to dividing into fifty types of activities. The so-called "all that exists in the three realms" refers to the three siddhis. The so-called "everything will be accomplished in an instant" means that it will be accomplished quickly through mantra (Sanskrit: mantra, Devanagari: मंत्र, Roman transliteration: mantra, literal meaning: mantra), tantra (Sanskrit: tantra, Devanagari: तंत्र, Roman transliteration: tantra, literal meaning: tantra), and yantra (Sanskrit: yantra, Devanagari: यंत्र, Roman transliteration: yantra, literal meaning: yantra). The so-called "performing all activities" refers to performing activities for the benefit of others. Having thus briefly indicated, the detailed explanation is given, namely, mentioning "all the gods" and so on. Just as in the past, the Bhagavan controlled, enjoyed, and merged with yakshas, nagas, rakshasas, and asuras, similarly, by meditating on and reciting to all the gods, commands are issued, thereby performing the activities of pacifying, increasing, subjugating, and manifesting. Or, one may act solely through the individual and the wheel together, or some may act through medicine and all three, or it is also possible for each to be accomplished separately. Among these, merely remembering all the gods can kill, namely, at the end of the eight-limbed mantra, recite "Māraya Phat (Tibetan: མཱ་ར་ཡ་ཕཊ།)" and continuously recite its name. All nagas and so on will also change in the same way. For yakshas and gandharvas, the same will also occur. If one meditates on the lord of the wheel of mind for all, then recite the eight-limbed mantra. For all yakshas and rakshasas, recite the eight-limbed mantra of the wheel of speech. For all nagas and asuras, meditate on the wheel of body, namely, having the face of a garuda, and then recite the eight-limbed mantra. The so-called "merely remembering can destroy all clouds" should be said thus. From the *Uttaratantra*, the ritual for subduing the eight nagas, namely, the mandala of the eight nagas should be drawn on the banks of rivers, oceans, wells, and ponds, namely, lotus petals.

Draw a mandala, on the eastern petals draw Limitless, in the north draw Wealth Increase, in the west draw the Giver, in the south draw a lotus, in the place of power draw a great lotus, in the fire corner draw the conch-holder, in the truthless place draw the source of power, in the wind corner draw the unheated one. White, blue, red, green, yellow, smoke-colored, green and yellowish-brown, these also have jewel tiaras and snake-headed crests. The eight nagas join their palms. In the center of that, draw the Bhagavan with the face of Namkhai Deng, baring his fangs, with four faces and eight arms, the fifth face being the face of a Garuda, red, with the splendor of twelve suns, the first two hands holding a vajra and making a threatening mudra, the other two holding the skin of the Naga king, the third pair holding an iron hook and a khatvanga, the fourth pair holding a spear and a cymbal. The four feet trample on the water deity couple and the tails of the eight nagas. In front of that, the yogi Great Wisdom meditates on and draws the Bhagavan Great Garuda in the same way, and performs a hundred thousand recitations in front of the drawn mandala. By this, signs appear, and in order to apply it to the activity, offering a hundred thousand milk fire offerings, it destroys all clouds, causes rain to fall, and also stops rain. Or make an eight-legged illusion wheel. Draw the wheel of the eight nagas mentioned earlier on barley or white cloth, surround it with three wheels from the outside, make ink from poison, salt, deadly grass, three peppers, and charcoal from the cemetery, write the mantras of all the heroes and heroines, and write "Hum Nam Hum" in the heart of the eight nagas. In the center, at the Bhagavan's archery place, write "Hum Nam Hum Sarva Naga Varsha Mana Yashti Shigram Phet."
