Explanation of Chapter Two. Explanation of Chapter Two. 'That' means in the place of the sound as it is. 'Heavy' means the paint that does not fall to the ground. It should be connected with 'to begin there'. The excellent distinction of this should be understood as the ritual of the method of the mandala. In the charnel ground, one should practice. That which is said is that the five colors arising from the nature of the charnel ground should be manifestly assembled. The blue color is from the ashes of burnt corpses. The red color is from the bricks of the charnel ground. The white color is from the powder of human bones. The yellow color is from turmeric and human bone powder mixed together. The green color is from human bone powder and green leaf powder. With this, the terrifying mandala should be drawn, because it is the source of the wheel-turning king, it is terrifying. The teacher who possesses excellent qualities is skilled in the ritual of consecration. Knowing the union is abiding in meditation. The saying 'going to the other shore', first with the ocean of emptiness, washing away all sins, immaculate like the sky, starting from great compassion and love, with the joy and delight of diligence, one should meditate on oneself as glorious Heruka. Having adorned the crown with skulls, that is, the various braids painted with the images of the five Tathagatas are extremely adorned. Anointing all the limbs is with the ashes of burnt corpses and the mixture of the five ambrosias. 'One segment' means the wheel of five fingers. The garland of bones hangs down, that is, the garland made of fifty heads. If not available, it can be drawn or done with meditation. Khaṭvāṅga) is in the left hand, with the skull. The right hand should raise the vajra. 'Oneself' is easy to understand. Having done so, it should be connected with 'to draw'. 'Corpse thread' means the thread that is sent to the charnel ground together with the corpse, taking the one that does not fall to the ground, and consecrating it with the great blood of the immortal fifteen. Again, 'corpse thread' means the ink thread made from the sinews of a human corpse.

So-called "one cubit" etc., is from one cubit up to twenty cubits, and should not exceed this number. "The mantra practitioner practices in a twofold manner," this is about the characteristics of the dividing thread. "Offer the bliss of the net of dakinis," this is about making offerings. Regarding the measurement and establishment that was spoken of, "By the order of increasing parts, establish the line of the virtuous mandala," and so on. Increasing with these three "parts" is "increasing parts," and its order is the "order of increasing parts." By this "order of increasing parts," the line of the mandala should be established. In the place where the size of the mandala is measured: Measure from east to west, establish the line with twice the amount, and then look for the crow's footprints. Proceed from east to south, and likewise from west, measure in the northern direction with this, and establish the line of Brahma. After grasping the eastern direction etc., establish four lines, and from the outside to each direction, establish eight "parts" with this, and there, use the large "part" as the measure. Divide again into four "parts," and establish the line from the corners that have sixty-four squares. By establishing lines from each of the corners, the assembled thread is the most excellent. From the outside to each "part," measure into two "parts." After measuring and establishing the measure of this line, establish Indra etc. in pairs. Grasping the thread that has the measure, connect all that is found. In this way, make it the wheel of great bliss, and the measure of body, speech, and mind. Having seven by seven squares, it is the excellent encircling thread. From the center of that wheel, make six, and thus adorn it with spokes. The center and the lotuses etc., make them four and three squares. On the two faces of Brahma, adorn the inside of the spokes. These three in all places, should always be made complete. The mind is surrounded by a vajra garland, likewise the speech is surrounded by a lotus garland, the wheel of the body is surrounded by a garland, and the rest is done according to how it is adorned. Among them, in the eastern direction, in the place of Indra, on the Shirisha tree, there is a white assembly of deities. In the southern direction, on the Chuta tree, there is a black Yama assembly. In the western direction, residing on the Ashoka tree, there is a red cloud king assembly. In the northern direction, there is the Bodhi tree.
