Chapter 5: Explaining the Great Mandala of the Vajra Realm. Chapter 5: Explaining the Great Mandala of the Vajra Realm. ༄། །Now, I shall explain the great mandala of the Vajra Realm. Thus, the Buddha, the Bhagavan, the perfect Buddha arose from A (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Chinese literal meaning: A). A (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Chinese literal meaning: A) is the most supreme of all letters, it is a sacred letter of great meaning. Wherever there is yoga of form for vowel letters, and yoga of mantra, and yoga of Dharma, and yoga of Suchness, from the brief exposition, to the assembly possessing the conceptual thought of how it arises here, it is said thus. Buddha means having both abandonment and attainment. ༄། །Then, why is the Bhagavan the most supreme of the Buddhas? Buddha is also present in Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. Therefore, different from them, the Bhagavan is the one who knows all aspects. Also, if the Bhagavan is the one who knows all aspects, then the perfect Buddha is a repetition, it is not right to think so, because among the five Tathagatas, especially the glorious Vajrasattva Vajradhara. What is that? It arises from A (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Chinese literal meaning: A), therefore, the shape of A (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Chinese literal meaning: A) is Dharma-origination. A (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Chinese literal meaning: A) is the most supreme of all letters, this is the letter vaṃ (Tibetan: བཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: वं, Sanskrit Romanization: vaṃ, Chinese literal meaning: vaṃ). The sacred letter of great meaning is Akshara, which means immutable. Likewise, it is said in the Guhyagarbha Tantra of sixty thousand verses: "The birthplace of mantras has no letters, the great secret mantra is of three families, the great emptiness is five letters, the bindu emptiness is six letters." For these, there are two kinds of expressions, one is the expression of speech, and the other is the expression of Suchness. The expression of mantra is the expression of speech, which is worldly. The expression of Suchness is the ultimate truth, which is separate from expression. The Bhagavan said so in the vehicle of mantra. Thus, Nirvana is the realm of wisdom, immeasurable and inexpressible, the nature of vowels and consonants is said to be inexpressible. The realm of space, etc., with the expression of mantra, is the nature of the expression of speech, the Dharmas expressed from the throat, etc., are all spoken by the Bhagavan. Among them, the five letters of great emptiness are the realm of consciousness, like the hook above the letter A (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Chinese literal meaning: A) in the center. The element of acting wind is like the letter A as a staff. To the right is the element of feeling fire, like the letter A with a strong flame. To the left is the element of perception water, like a drop from bliss. Below is the element of form earth, like the letter A as a plow. These five are the symbol representing the nature of Vajrasattva as the letter VAM (藏文,梵文天城体:वं,梵文罗马拟音:vaṃ,汉语字面意思:வம்). Above the five previous signs, the clarifying letter KA of the group representing consciousness and so on, is the element of space. To the east, the group of TSA representing actions and so on, is the element of wind. To the south, the group of TA representing feeling and so on, is the element of fire. To the north, the group representing perception is the element of water. To the west of that, the group of TA representing form and so on, is the element of earth. Below, the group of SA representing the wisdom element and so on, is the element of wisdom. The unification of these is the letter E (藏文,梵文天城体:ऐ,梵文罗马拟音:ai,汉语字面意思:ཨེ་) as the Dharmadhatu. These five letters of great emptiness are the collection of vowel letters, called semen and moon. The six letters of the empty drop are the collection of consonants, called blood and sun. Here, semen and vajra are the letter VAM (藏文,梵文天城体:वं,梵文罗马拟音:vaṃ,汉语字面意思:வம்), which is the vajra. Blood and sun are the letter E (藏文,梵文天城体:ऐ,梵文罗马拟音:ai,汉语字面意思:ཨེ་), which is the lotus. Vajra and lotus, the single taste of these is called Vajrasattva. Because it is immutable, it is A-KSHA-RA. Because the beginning and end of vowels and consonants are combined, it is non-dual. That Vajrasattva is also the four bodies that purify the four states of sleep, dream, wakefulness, and the fourth. In the four bodies, there are four states to be purified, four yogas that purify, four purified Abhisambodhis, four knowledges as the fruit of speech, four liberations as the characteristics of speech, and four vajras as the essence of purity. The co-emergent body itself is the liberation of emptiness, the completely pure wisdom vajra, omniscience, and the nature of skillful means and wisdom, called pure yoga. The Dharmakaya itself is the liberation without signs, the completely pure mind vajra, the wisdom body, and the nature of skillful means and wisdom, called Dharma yoga. The Sambhogakaya is the liberation without aspiration, the completely pure speech vajra, the sun body, and skillful means and wisdom.
