Commentary on the Empowerment Chapter of the Glorious King of Tantras, the Wheel of Time. Composed by Dārika. Commentary on the Empowerment Chapter of the Glorious King of Tantras, the Wheel of Time. Composed by Dārika. In Sanskrit: Śrīkālacakratantrarājasyaśekaprakriyīvṛtti, Vajravādhoṅghatināma. In Tibetan: Commentary on the Empowerment Chapter of the Glorious King of Tantras, the Wheel of Time, called "Vajra Word Elucidation". Homage to the Glorious Wheel of Time! He who, with the fire of wisdom, Dries up the ocean of dripping, poisonous water, From the realm of great bliss in the sky, Like thunder, proclaims and pours down like rain, In immeasurable kalpas, shows various dance methods to beings, I pay homage to that first Buddha, the supreme of all dance methods. Those who possess the name of Vajra, The two who travel in the sky, And the Vajra holders, the Lamas, Are capable of accomplishing this unobstructed treatise. The single Buddha who illuminates the three realms turned into darkness has passed into Nirvana. After that, the impartial noble Nāgārjuna and others no longer reside here. However, those who indulge in the bliss of duality and show the wrong path, causing the destruction of beings, For the sake of those speculative ones to understand and to remember themselves, I will write this commentary. Furthermore, it is said: "Having entered this supreme great secret, Claiming to be practitioners of yoga, They engage in all non-actions, Becoming thieves who disturb the world. Saying, 'The world's breath arises from this,' They pour streams of water on their heads. Adorning themselves with crowns, vajras, bells, etc., They make a living with this vajra. Some gather groups of disciples, Saying, 'My words are the truth,' They deceive children with this, And teach secrets perversely. Some reside in remote places, Far from the Perfection of Wisdom, Not abiding even for a moment, They practice worldly mantras and so on. Some make a living by begging, Wandering everywhere, speaking boastfully, They are attached to women, Breaking the vows of the Buddha. Some reside in villages, Attached to food and drink, Consorting with boys and girls.

There are many people who laugh and play joyfully. Some engage in music and drama, singing and gambling, watching gatherings, and diligently learning crafts. Some engage in trade and agriculture, slaughtering elephants and cattle, transporting vehicles, and committing many sins. Furthermore, there are yogis, nuns and female novices, laywomen and laymen, who attack each other with weapons. They do not abide by or protect the well-spoken Vinaya. They denigrate the banner of the Buddha's teachings and commit offenses such as pārājika. Some do not discern the best of drinks and consume intoxicating juices mixed with sālu and other substances, thereby generating many afflictions. Thus spoke King Chandra Bhadra. Therefore, for those who, not understanding the Vajra words, have entered the wrong path, in order to turn them back from the wrong path, I have heard from the mouth of the venerable Guru and have well contemplated the definitive and true meaning of those tantras. Furthermore, with the scriptures and reasoning on how the Bodhisattvas who practice through the gate of secret mantras should practice and learn. The meaning of the five chapters of the tantra that summarizes the distinctions of the two empowerments is explained. The true meaning here should be explained as it is. The lord of men, the one holding the white lotus in his hand, although he has already explained the summary well, nevertheless, the commentators still follow the footsteps of the wise, starting from "obtaining" and "giving", and following well in order. I, the commentator, also follow the footsteps of the lord of men, the wise one, and have well grasped the wisdom of "obtaining" and the "axe", and with the scriptures, the Guru's instructions, and the craftsman's plumb line, I build the city of liberation and make an explanation of sound. Apart from this commentary, the true meaning of the precious two empowerments is clear and without doubt, and cannot be obtained by the wise. Because of abandoning "descent" and so on. "Descent" refers to those who want to bestow worldly and transmundane empowerments on those who desire it, in order to achieve common accomplishments, in order to seduce children.
