It is said that everything is for complete meditation. As it is said: The meditation of all beings is because the mind has not meditated. If all dharmas are fully understood, then meditation itself is not meditation. Any moving and unmoving things, such as grass, twigs, entwined trees, branches, etc., should definitely meditate on that sacred thing, as the self-nature of one's own things. There is not just one sacred thing there. True self-awareness is meditation, from the self-nature of one's own awareness, that which is inconsistent arises. Thus it is said. Like this, by abiding in the meditation of Shambala, when non-conceptual thought arises continuously, one also attains the ten bhumis. When non-conceptual wisdom arises continuously, the prophesying teachings will appear. Then, one will abide in the conduct of the Avadhuti. Abiding in that conduct, one will benefit sentient beings for countless eons. And, at that time, one will unite with a yogini of pure lineage and reach the true limit. Thus, obtaining the siddhi of Mahamudra is the complete accomplishment of what is needed. For one who becomes a yogi with seven branches, this is called the fourth initiation that represents similarity. When what is needed is completely accomplished, one should also know how the teacher abides. Such instructions are called the Suchness of the Fourth. Those four Suchness are: By combining in the manner of cause and effect, inseparable. Separated from real and unreal, happiness and suffering. Not fixating on anything, possessing this manner. May we meet with those who have come for the sake of the Dharma. By realizing these four Suchness, quickly attain the joyful Vajra, may the assembly of sick beings in the three realms be healed. The Lamp Illuminating the Instructions on the Fourth Suchness, was written by the great accomplished master Tilopa of the blessed land of Oddiyana (present-day Swat Valley, Pakistan), thus it is complete. The Indian Khenpo Ratnashri himself translated, explained, and established it.
