Even poison that has been consumed cannot cause one to fall into wrongdoing. Likewise, the purity of the five afflictions, which manifests as the five Tathagatas, is actually the skillful means of the Sugatas, and not associated with afflictions. Therefore, it is said in the tantras: 'Whose nature is completely free from desire, yet for the sake of taming beings, shows anger to the angry, and appears to have desire for the desirous, to that one who abides in the supreme state of enlightenment, I pay homage.' Thus it is said. Furthermore, although the Bhagavan has completely transcended the end of all habitual tendencies and afflictions, in order to benefit certain beings to be tamed, he manifests as being surrounded by retinues of consorts and goddesses who have transcended the world, dwelling and enjoying desires and so forth. What is the reason for doing so? It is because the gods such as the Lord of Desire are extremely arrogant due to the enjoyment of their own consorts and retinues of attendants, and they believe that there is no one more supreme than themselves. In order to dispel their arrogance and lead them into the teachings, the Tathagatas emanate immeasurable qualities as the four aspects and the six perfections, and so forth, into the nature of goddesses, and by showing that they possess a desire enjoyment that is far superior to that of the gods, those gods, upon seeing this, become weary of their own retinues and, without arrogance, develop a longing for the perfection of the Tathagatas, and ask how they can attain these qualities. Then, by leading them to take refuge in the Three Jewels, generate bodhicitta, and so forth, they enable them to attain those transcendent qualities. Moreover, in the Great Vow Tantra it says: 'These sons of the gods who always abide in desire, and for the sake of other desirous ones, the mandala of great joy is taught.' Thus it is said. This is like a dog giving birth to a puppy. For beings who are heavily inclined towards desire, in order to increase desire, they manifest a retinue of extremely excellent consorts and the enjoyment of desirable objects, thereby causing them to become weary of ordinary desires.

I. Aspiring to and desiring the unsurpassed wealth of the Tathagata, and realizing their nature. Therefore, not clinging to it, being free from the discrimination of "I" and "mine." Gradually liberated from afflictions, perfecting the accumulation of merits. Therefore, in the Vajra Netra Sutra, it is said: "Beings are deluded by desire, desire is eliminated by humans." Here, the purity of desire is extensively discussed in order to tame beings born from the womb, and because this tantra only teaches wisdom and samadhi. Due to the intention (of the Buddha), it is shown in this way. The Tathagata realizes (beings) who have desire, and holds views that are inconsistent with the right path. Those people did not understand the intention (of the Buddha), this is merely a means taken to tame beings. Moreover, because it is in accordance with the mundane, from Dipankara Buddha onwards, the Tathagata is free from desire. Saying Rahula is the son of the Buddha, this is a practice that follows the mundane. So it is said. The incidental content has ended, and now we enter the main text. Pukkasani is the source of hatred. This is how it is shown. The rest should be diligently eliminated. From that it is said that the three roots are the most supreme, and the remaining twenty-nine roots are unnecessary. From that it is also said that one-sixteenth is not needed at all. Therefore, one-sixteenth means that the root is more subtle than the twenty-nine roots, which no one can realize and cannot do anything with. That is its meaning. In the tantra it says, for what reason? Because it does not do the work of the basic meaning. The bodhicitta is like the moon, with the nature of fifteen parts. It means that the characteristic of the fifteenth moon is the bodhicitta, because it is the nature of great bliss, so in reality it must be realized in conjunction with the yogini, and it cannot be realized by relying on one method alone. Because it is protected by bliss, it is called the Blissful One. The meaning of this sentence is that the rest of the words are easy to understand. Green fearless lineage. It means that green is very beautiful. Because it has eliminated discrimination and has vows, it is called the fearless lineage.
