First, Explanation of the Vajra Family Chapter. First, Explanation of the Vajra Family Chapter. In Indian language: Śrī Hevajra nāma tantra artha saṃgraha. In Tibetan: The Abridged Meaning of the Tantra Called "Glorious Hevajra". Homage to the glorious Vajrasattva! Perfecting the taste of great wisdom, Having paid homage to great bliss, I will write to the best of my ability, The meaning of the Hevajra Tantra. The Buddha, the Bhagavan, generated the mind of enlightenment, accumulated merit through the aspects of enlightenment and the perfections, and beginning with the generation stage, perfected the conventional truth up to the seventh ground. From the eighth ground to the tenth ground, having purified the three appearances, attained the tenth ground, and through the stage of union, spontaneously accomplished the ultimate truth on the ground of Samantabhadra. Descending from Tushita to Jambudvipa, having placed the emanation body of asceticism in the human realm of the world, went to Akanishta with the body of meditative absorption transformed by mind-abiding, attained manifest enlightenment, and manifestly and completely awakened as a Buddha through the method of secret mantra, subduing the gods in the abode of the Great Brahma, the palace of dominion, and on top of Mount Meru, etc. Then, descending to the human realm, having manifestly awakened on the Vajra Throne, although he taught many methods of taming beings such as gods and humans, in short, there are three types: For those who have very weak qualities, etc., accumulated by bad views and poor conduct, and who seek enlightenment for a long time, he taught the Dharma of detachment from desire merely by realizing the four noble truths and the selflessness of the individual. For some who view the self as real, and are arrogant with pride and desire, etc., those who have great causes of compassion and wisdom, he taught the eight aggregates of consciousness, etc., and having the two selflessnesses through the gates of the immeasurable, etc., and the profound and vast grounds and perfections. For some who are frightened by asceticism and abandoning objects of desire, who have particular faith in the profound, who have become vessels of the suchness of Dharma, and whose minds are moistened by great compassion,

For those, manifesting as universal monarchs and the like, showing a way of conduct like the Dharma of desire, is to show the conduct of secret mantras. For those beings who, due to the power of habituation in other lives, particularly enjoy solitary forests, and cannot keep their minds focused without activities such as bathing and drawing mandalas, asceticism and offerings, fire offerings and recitations, those who have little power to meditate on Suchness, and particularly enjoy conduct with signs, the Kriya Tantras, which mainly show those common practices, such as the Vajrasekhara Tantra, the Supreme Wisdom Tantra, and the Extremely Accomplished Tantra, and so on, were taught. For those who also like the distinctions of action, and are also happy to engage in the vast practices of skillful means and wisdom, without abandoning the nature of inner self, the Ubhaya Tantras, which combine both action and yoga, such as the Vajrapani Abhisheka Tantra and the Mahavairocana Abhisambodhi Tantra, and so on, were taught. For some disciples who have a mind that delights in offering to Suchness, particularly like yoga, dislike external objects, and wish to purify their minds with samadhi, the Yoga Tantras, which have few aspects of action and mainly show the aspects of yoga, such as the Shri Paramadya Tantra, the Yoga Tantra Arya-Tathata-Samgraha Tantra, and the Sarva-Tathagata-Samgraha Tantra, and so on, were taught. For some disciples who are naturally sharp-witted, single-mindedly desire to meditate on Suchness, have the action of the power of past habituation, do not allow the perception of difference in all things, have minds well-trained in the Mahayana, and are great beings who have great faith in the practice of non-duality of wisdom and skillful means, the Maha Yoga Tantras, which mainly emphasize Suchness Yoga, enter in a non-dual way, and teach the great conduct of with elaboration, without elaboration, and extremely without elaboration, such as the Sarva-Buddha-Samayoga Tantra, and so on.
