Tenth, Explanation of the Empowerment Chapter. Tenth, Explanation of the Empowerment Chapter. Here, the empowerment of the disciple will be explained. It should be bestowed in the painted mandala. As it is said, "Then," and so on. "As it is" means without inversion. "Sequence" refers to the ritual by which the disciple is to be empowered. That ritual will also be explained. It should be connected in that way. "The nature of the deity" means abiding in one's own yoga. "From Hūṃ comes the vajra" refers to the sequence spoken of in the deity chapter. "Bodhisattva" refers to Hevajra and so on. "House" means a building. "Fragrance" means to write with this, it is also colored powder, writing is also this, so it is writing with colored powder. Also, "good" means an excellent jewel. "Medium" means inferior. "Rice and so on" means rice, sālu rice, and pomegranates and so on. "Three cubits and so on," "three fingers more" means three fingers more. This is a brief presentation of the mandala. A detailed explanation of this will appear below. The occasion for empowerment is spoken of, "intelligence" and so on. "To place" means to hold. "Good woman" means excellent. If it is not found, then how should another be found to be placed at that time? "Sixteen years old" means the prime of youth. "Likewise also" means if it has not arrived, then empowerment can also be given to those who are twenty years old and so on. "Wrapping the faces of both" means the meaning of not relying. "The field of activity of the disciple" means that the disciple should truly understand. If so, what will happen? It is said, "self-awareness," meaning that by meditating on that same taste, it will be transformed into the fruit of wisdom to be expressed by the name of great Bodhi. If that is not closely indicated, then later meditation is not appropriate, so it will not be transformed into being endowed with accomplishment. That is the actual word. That which is transformed into the fruit of wisdom is distinguished by "nature" and so on, not focusing on truly knowing oneself and others, it is abandoning that. "Equal to space" means appearing like space, without appearance, in a clear manner, self and others appear as one taste. "Free from dust" means afflictions.

Is pervasive. Emptiness is the disappearance of what appears to be grasped. "Substantial" refers to the body of a yogi. "Non-substantial" refers to the nature of grasping its feelings and so on. Because the nature of these exists in this, it is said so. With the distinction of self-nature, it also appears as a bright self-nature, which disappears into the inner self-nature. "Supreme" means unique, appearing only as such. Alternatively, "supreme" means ultimate truth, because elaboration is not supreme. Method is compassion, experiencing all sentient beings as equal to oneself. Wisdom is seeing all phenomena as empty of duality. Their joy is mixed, meaning that sentient beings and non-sentient beings appear as one with myself and the bright self-nature. Attachment and non-attachment are completely mixed, meaning that both of them also appear as that nature. Among them, attachment refers to the great bliss of co-emergent non-dual wisdom. Non-attachment refers to suchness. "Life" means survival, and separation from it means non-survival. The immutable holy one means without beginning or end. Difference means that all phenomena are only consciousness. In all bodies, it is constantly present. It means that if the body is blessed by consciousness, it will survive. Therefore, because of its nature, it arises from karma and afflictions, so it is said to arise from various things, such as so-called things. "Thing" refers to the body. "Non-thing" refers to feelings and so on. The others refer to the six senses. Whatever those are, they refer to external objects that are solid and moving, and all of them are the meaning of the nature of consciousness. The non-Buddhists also impute self and so on to it, as it is said. Among all, the Vedicists say that everything is consciousness. The Samkhyas say that the mind is the purusha. The Personalists say that sentient beings are so called because they repeatedly transmigrate and perish. The Isvaravadins say that the self is permanent, and that the one who possesses permanent knowledge is Isvara. The Atmanvadins say that the self is born, causes to live, causes to die, and binds.
