Third, the explanation of the chapter on deities. Third, the explanation of the chapter on deities. The so-called chapter on deities refers to Hevajra and Vajrayogini, etc., which are the chapters on these deities. How do they become their chapters? Just as the yoga of the Hevajra generation stage, from higher to higher, is extensively and directly shown from here, it also correctly shows the union of the goddesses. Therefore, first, it is explained in terms of the yoga of Hevajra. It starts from "first" and so on. "First" refers to relying on compassion, etc., and is the very first. First, protect the place and oneself, then enter the meditation room, sit on a comfortable seat, place the image of the Bhagavan, such as a painting, in front of you, make offerings to it, and recite Argham (Tibetan: ཨརྒྷཾ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: अर्घं, Sanskrit Romanization: arghaṃ, literal meaning: offering). Assume the lotus position, maintain mindfulness, confess sins, rejoice in merits, pray for refuge, and generate Bodhicitta. Then, practice loving-kindness, wishing all sentient beings to attain supreme happiness, which is loving-kindness, to be practiced in the first moment. In the second moment, practice compassion, contemplating that they are free from all suffering. The third is joy, contemplating that they have attained happiness and will never be separated from samsara. Finally, there is equanimity, contemplating that for the sake of exhausting all non-virtuous aspects such as afflictions, all virtuous aspects of the mundane and supramundane are brought closer, and practice it. In this way, these four immeasurables should be practiced. Why? In order to stabilize all roots of virtue such as Bodhicitta, and in order not to distinguish between harmful minds and various kinds of harm, and in order to protect oneself from the suffering of evil destinies, demons, and inferior vehicles, these are the first limbs of yogis, common to all yogis. The body of the first yoga is the four vajras, and the explanation of this starts from "thereafter" and so on. "Thereafter again" means thereafter returning again.

It should be practiced, that's how it connects. If you wonder what should be practiced, it is said (in the scripture), such as the emptiness of enlightenment, etc. The characteristic of the Mind-Only school is its diverse nature, and that very nature, where the grasper and the grasped are both absent, is emptiness. Its enlightenment is an unconfused appearance, so the emptiness of enlightenment should be practiced. How should it be practiced? In this case, there isn't even a tiny bit of the grasper and the grasped that can withstand analysis. It is not singular, and from the absence of duality, merely the appearance of duality arises, and one's own mind is confused, and from this very confusion, diverse appearances are generated, and one should contemplate them like dreams, etc. One's own mind, the diverse appearances, by that very means, eliminate the signs of confusion, the appearance of duality, and like clear crystal, merely clear, one should view it as limitless and non-dual. The second is to gather the seed. This means that one's own mind, that limitless mind, should be gathered non-dually in the heart, and one should visualize it as becoming like the orb of the rising sun. On top of that, one should contemplate the seed syllable (ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुँ, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Hum) with a rosary of blazing light. From that seed syllable, one should emanate Vajra Mother and Gaurī (Sanskrit Devanagari: गौरी, Sanskrit Romanization: Gaurī, Literal Chinese meaning: Gauri) and so on, infinitely, and then gather them into that very seed syllable, which is the gathering of the seed, and that should be practiced. The third is the completion of the image. This means that by that very seed syllable, the form of Hevajra resides in one's own body, in the center of a great lotus, on the sun in the heart, possessing an orb of sunlight, and one should contemplate the completion of the form, which is the meaning. The fourth is to place the letters. This means that from there, one should focus on the sun disc in one's own heart, and on top of that, one should place the seed syllable. From the seed syllable residing on the sun in the heart, one should be complete with the nature of one's own deity's form, the nature of the mind, and one should practice one's own mind, which is the meaning. Here also, the actions such as the second, etc., distinguish it. This is spoken in terms of the second yoga. Starting from "ra las," etc. Here, the ultimate limb of the emptiness of enlightenment is completed, as before. In particular, what is said in the two verses such as "ra las," etc., practicing loving-kindness, etc., is the first protection.
