Fifth, the Chapter on Suchness. Fifth, the Chapter on Suchness. From here onwards, the chapter on Suchness will be explained. What should be said as Suchness? Not existent, not non-existent, not both existent and non-existent, also not the nature of both. It is liberated from the four extremes. Suchness should be known as great bliss. The meaning of this is as stated in the glorious Immaculate Light: Here, wisdom is the nature of fifteen parts, which is the white side. The waning of the moon is the black side, which is skillful means. Thus, white is the night, and black is the day. Therefore, the spontaneously born body, which is neither wisdom nor skillful means, is the spontaneously born body of all Buddhas. Thus, existence is not the white side, and non-existence, that is, the absence of parts, is not the black side. Not existent nor non-existent, because these contradict each other, there is no collection. Also not the nature of both, which means that apart from these black and white sides, there is no spontaneously born bliss. Thus, the completely pure four extremes, the sixteen parts, the nature of emptiness, should be spoken of as the spontaneously born body. The yogi should know the fourth cessation as the characteristic of homogeneity. Thus, it is established as neither male nor female. It is also said in the Sutra Requested by the Four Goddesses: Among the great hero's collection of eighty-four thousand teachings, whoever does not know that, all of them are without fruit. Thus it is said. Without obtaining that precious jewel, there is never any accomplishment. Even if the excellent field is completely purified, it is like a sprout without a seed. Thus it is said. The essence, formless, etc., should be clarified. The essence is the wisdom of the Tathagata that should be known by oneself. By the essence, that is, the grasper and the grasped, and being separated from the transformation of clinging to the eighteen elements, therefore, for the yogis, there is no seer of external formlessness, no consciousness of the eye. Likewise, there is no hearer, no sound, no consciousness of the ear. Likewise, there is no odorless smeller, no consciousness of the nose. Likewise, there is no taste, no taster, no consciousness of the tongue.
