A Difficult Commentary on the First Chapter. A Difficult Commentary on the First Chapter. First, the chapter on the Vajra Family. In Sanskrit: Vajra Pāda Sāra Saṃgraha Pañcīkā. In Tibetan: A Difficult Commentary on the Condensed Essence of Vajra Words. Homage to glorious Hevajra. Supreme emanation of all Buddhas, Vajrasattva who perfectly realizes, Lord of the five elements, I prostrate to the glorious Lama. Through examples such as illusion, The nature of what is to be realized, To that very Great Seal, I constantly and respectfully prostrate. From the forehead to the end of the vajra jewel, Filled with joy and so on, That which arises at the end of being filled, I prostrate to that goddess. Now, briefly here, according to the supreme order of the glorious First Buddha Tantra, and the glorious Vajragarbha and so on, having extracted from the well-explained words of the glorious Vajrapani and all other tantras. From the mudras, mandalas, mantras, fire offerings, and activities, etc., spoken of in various scriptures, Vast and frightening due to their immeasurable depth, extremely condensed. In order to ascertain the words of glorious Hevajra, a little by the great Kashmiri who has obtained the order of the oral instructions of the lineage of the holy Lama, for the sake of remembering oneself, and for the sake of the disciples being able to realize, it will be accurately condensed and written. Poetic structure, not by heretics' speech, not with arrogance, but explaining the words of the omniscient, therefore, wise ones, please forgive. Therein, first briefly, by the order of the glorious First Buddha, The meaning of the glorious Hevajra Tantra will be explained by the order of the straightforward and definitive meanings. By the summary, it shows how it arises, By the extensive explanation, it purifies the obscurations, By the hidden meaning, it extensively explains, The teachings of the tantra are of three kinds. Those who desire to realize the Vajrayana, Should be known by those who possess yoga. Only by the order of the lineage, The straightforward meaning and the definitive meaning should be combined. All of the stiffness and so on, Mantras and mandalas, deities, etc., Actions, gestures, as well as gazes, etc., The meaning of fire offerings and vows, etc., The definitive meaning should be clarified. Those are easy to understand in the straightforward meaning. The beginning of the tantra.

Between and end. All of this is certain. Glory, here also is spoken the light free from stain. All-knowing Buddhas, the Transcendent Lords. Etc., those who gather together reveal the king of tantras. Those who speak well, in order to destroy their clinging to good sounds, rely on the meaning itself. In some places the sound deteriorates in meaning, in some places long becomes short, in some places short also becomes long, in some places the fifth meaning becomes the seventh, the fourth meaning becomes the sixth, in some places one word becomes many words, and many words become one word. In some places the masculine sign becomes the neuter sign, and the neuter sign becomes the masculine sign, and in some places born from the brahmarandhra, born from the teeth, born from the palate, etc. In some places those born from the teeth become those born from the palate and those born from the brahmarandhra. Likewise, others should also be understood accordingly. Therefore, for those who aspire to omniscience, the great discernment of sound and non-sound is: Even with various bad dialects, one always enters the path of the great ones. From the power of the minds of sentient beings, the supreme speech of the omniscient ones arises. Grammarians argue about the sounds created by gods and nagas, but not those who seek meaning. Even if the sound deteriorates, even if it is a local language, The yogi grasps the meaning. Milk mixed with water, Initially it rises up to be drunk. In the realm of ultimate truth, The great ones never rely on words. The Transcendent Lord also said: There are also four reliances, namely: Rely on the meaning itself, and do not rely on the letter; rely on wisdom itself, and do not rely on consciousness; rely on the sutra of definitive meaning, and do not rely on the sutra of interpretable meaning; rely on the Dharma itself, and do not rely on the individual. Because of these words of the Transcendent Lord, one should not follow the letter. Here, due to the various inclinations of sentient beings, there are many omniscient ones, Many languages of the omniscient ones, Many places of residence, Many petitioners, and Dharma teaching
