Called the Vajra Holder, some people will call others that. To those who hold the vows of discipline, all monks do not pay homage. Claiming to be the Vajra Holder on earth, saying that only those in white clothes are worthy of my homage. Relying on merchants, commoners, and those who enjoy agricultural work. Ignorant people trade the Dharma, enjoying what should not be enjoyed. Those belonging to the demon clan become the gurus of the students. In the guise of yogic practitioners, they conceal their own faults, and in order to abandon those faults, they will surely speak out. The virtues of the guru should be learned, but the faults should never be imitated by the student. Holding onto faults, there is no accomplishment here, of this I have no doubt. Without compassion, angry and malicious, arrogant and unrestrained in desires, a guru who delights in self-praise should not be approached by a wise student. These words should not be spoken to all students. To those who are without compassion, engaged in agricultural labor, angry and fond of suppressing others. Malicious and hateful of monks and the Sangha, rigid and filled with evil knowledge. Greedy and pursuing what should not be pursued, excessively drinking alcohol and unrestrained. Here proclaiming self-praise, and finding fault with those who have virtues. The Vajra Guru who has received empowerment and supreme accomplishment is the Tathagata. The Buddhas of the ten directions, past, present, and future, pay homage to him. Not understanding this meaning, merely using the name to delude the masses, slandering the power of the Buddhas, they will eventually go to weeping and wailing. From the crown of Vajrasattva's head, to the empowerment under the Bodhi tree, the one who has received supreme empowerment is the Vajra Guru, who is the Tathagata. The Bodhisattvas of the ten directions, filling all the worlds with their bodies, the five aggregates abiding there, past, present, and future, pay homage to him. Then the jeweled crown, various treasures filling the world, the Buddhas abiding there all pay homage, that is the Yoga Vajra Guru. Just as it is said in coded language, the urine and semen of Vairochana, Akshobhya and Amitabha, likewise the Guru is the Vajra Holder. Feces, urine, semen, etc., the mudras, just as the Guru gives them, body, speech,

May the swift attainment of body, speech, and mind Be granted by the Vajradhara. Through relative and ultimate truths, To the disciples, the yogis, At the mandala, beneath the Bodhi tree, Empowerments are given as before and after. Speaking with intention and without intention, True words and untrue words, Likewise, definitive and provisional meanings, The tantra is characterized by six limits. Whatever qualities the master possesses here, Those that are taught by name, are the qualities of Vajrasattva, Such as the six clairvoyances and their characteristics. Steadfast, disciplined, and intelligent, Patient, upright, without deceit or guile, Knowing the union of mantra and tantra, Compassionate and skilled in treatises, Knowing all ten suchnesses, Skilled in the work of drawing mandalas, Possessing a tamed nature and faculties, The holder of secret mantras is the master. Possessing these qualities that have been spoken of, A monk becomes a Vajra Holder. Novices and laypeople, those ten, are not equal to the monks here. Having the ten bases of training, And having the five bases of training, And having the limits of the bases of training, these three are said to be not equal. As it is said in the root tantra, the place of a monk who is a Vajra Holder. That which is slightly superior, the guru, is said to the pleasing disciple. When the Mother of Selflessness asked the Vajra Holder, In accordance with the order, For the sake of bestowing the basis of training, These words were spoken. First, the five bases of training, Are fully endowed with Uposatha and so forth, Having completely abandoned the ten non-virtues, Having given them, one becomes a lay follower. Then the bases of training, Having given the ten, one becomes a novice. Then the divisions of the bases of training, Having given them, one becomes a monastic ascetic. Then, having known individual liberation, Then, the system of the Sarvastivadins, Then, having known the Sutra Pitaka, From the self-doctrine of the Mind-Only school, Then, the Perfection of Wisdom, One should know the intention of the Madhyamaka. Thus, having listened to other tantras, Then, one should know Hevajra. From the definite arising of the three vehicles, one abides in the fruit of one vehicle. Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, and here, the three Mahayana are not the fourth and fifth intentions of the Sugata for the Buddhas. The most supreme of all aspects, the first emptiness.
