Chapter One Chapter One In Sanskrit: Hevajrapiṇḍārthaṭīkā. In Tibetan: ཀྱེའི་རྡོ་རྗེ་བསྡུས་པའི་དོན་གྱི་རྒྱ་ཆེར་འགྲེལ་པ། (kyé'i rdo rje bsdus pa'i don gyi rgya cher 'grel pa) (Extensive Commentary on the Abridged Meaning of Hevajra). Homage to glorious Hevajra! Having completely abandoned worldly conduct, the nature of the Victorious One constantly arises and pervades. Non-dual, stainless, not of the senses, blissfully omniscient, E-Vam, supreme peace. The mind is not mind, that mind is not material, all-pervading, all-powerful. I pay homage to the essence-body of the Buddhas, for the sake of realizing the nectar. The eight qualities are supremely victorious, the liberated ones are the eight faces of the chief. The sixteen emptinesses are the hands and also the compassion, these are also the skulls. The fifty immutable vowels, which are the expression, are arranged, with garlands of heads on the shoulders. On the crown is Akshobhya, a half-moon, a garland of vajras, possessing the nature of skulls. With loving-kindness and so forth, and liberation, with excellent feet, they dwell, pressing down the maras. Afflictions, knowable objects, aggregates, and conjunctions, the chest goes forth, the mudra is a tiger skin. For whom the obscurations such as maras are like a mere fraction, For the sake of sentient beings, adorned thus. Having prostrated, I will write the commentary that explains the secrets of this tantra. Wishing to benefit all sentient beings, The powerful ones of the ten bhumis, Glorious Vajrasattva, In order to attain the path of yogis, From the great tantra of five hundred thousand, The concise tantra is well extracted, Seven hundred and fifty verses, This one possessing many vajra words. Because of the urging of Hevajra, The text is six thousand stanzas, Whatever follows the root tantra, By this, may the meaning of this tantra be clarified. In this age of the five degenerations, Whatever teachers will arise in the future, Showing the practice of yoga, Not abiding on the correct path, Without commentary, the concise tantra Is taught in a bad manner, Desiring the wealth and wives of others, They strive greatly to go to hell. Without the five superknowledges and so forth, Some will make commentaries. With pride in the treatises of logic, They despise the practice of yoga. The Buddha Vajrasattva himself, Having diligently taken hold by empowerment. I am a stone
