Praises in Verse. Miti Citra and Elephant of the Directions. Praises in Verse. Miti Citra and Elephant of the Directions. Chapter One: Introduction to the Praises. In the language of India: Mishraka Stotra Nama. In the language of Tibet: Called Praises in Verse. Homage to the All-Knowing! In the bottomless cycle of existence, Residing in the ocean. Because of unbearable desires and so on, The crocodile has devoured the body. To whom shall I turn for refuge today? As long as I have a mind, In whose teachings shall I abide, Whom shall I praise, whom shall I serve? Who has no faults at all, And in whom, in every way, All virtues reside. For the sake of removing harm to others, Whose faults have been exhausted, For the sake of others' eminence and liberation, The practice of virtue is not mine. If there is a mind, Then go for refuge to that one, Praise that one, honor that one, And abide in the teachings of that one. Whoever's faults harm others, That is virtue, whoever abandons others. Faults are destroying one's own faults, Living is for oneself, it is virtue. The All-Knowing possesses all virtues, And that also has no defects. Faults together with imprints, That also only the protector does not have. Because one does not reproach conduct, The capable one is established as without fault. Having abandoned the Dharma known as happiness, There is no reproach of white people. The Blessed One's body and, Speech and mind's activities, By whomever is resentful, One cannot find a flaw in accordance with the Dharma. The qualities of greatness, Even with a fraction, If one does not necessarily take the words, If one does not praise the teacher, I will be destroyed as if living in a person's mouth. Like a turtle's neck fitting into the hole of a yoke in the ocean, Having obtained the human body with great joy of the sacred Dharma, Although cut many times, But in the end, it still exists in the faults of the eon. The tongue has not become meaningful, Otherwise, I would have been deceived. Following impermanence, And being suspicious of the loopholes of karma, This tongue of mine, Why not take the essence? Because of realizing the limit of virtue, If one does not praise, Shariputra and others, Will certainly praise.

May it be auspicious! Thus, with the qualities of the Able One, although knowing countless realms, yet with respect for one's own benefit, I diligently declare one aspect of it. Whoever teaches others, or does not teach well because of inferiority, even when faults are exhausted, he teaches, for what reason do you not teach? Whose qualities are countless, and do not reach power, possessing wonderful and immeasurable deeds, I prostrate to you, the self-born one! By the power of the number of qualities, one is able to speak before learners, and is able to measure those with boundaries, but not before those who do not learn. If these deeds are without limit, what is there to say as to what these are like? For the sake of your qualities, I, thinking it is merit, have arisen in presumption. A praise to the Bhagavan Buddha, called "Praise Arising from Courage Born of Faith," which is called "The Beginning of Praise," the first chapter is complete. Chapter Two: Praising from the Aspect of Cause. Om! From happiness there is no compassion, to act or not to act, definitely not to act. Because of one's own happiness making others free, therefore it is necessarily combined with that. Having completely abandoned the discriminating thought of thinking whether to act or not to act, you yourself promised, saying: These beings are truly pitiable. After abandoning compassion, one entrusts to others. Some are diligent for their own benefit, therefore they exert themselves greatly for their own happiness. You are the one who does good without being entrusted, you are the one who loves without cause, you are the unfamiliar friend, you are the relative without connection. For the sake of the perfection of generosity, having taken beings with compassion, the joy increases for the beggars, accompanied by the rising of countless hairs. Since you also give your own flesh, what need is there to mention other things? You who do good, even gave your own life to the beggars. Having abandoned oneself for oneself, because of taking others as oneself, like exchanging grass for a great family of jewels, with undiminished joy, you, with your own body and life, for those beings seized by the executioner, you redeemed their bodies and lives hundreds of thousands of times. Worldly people with thoughts of self-view, have no heart of compassion, fearing suffering or desiring happiness, they take and protect all precepts.
