Emptiness, which is separate from both mother (ma) and father (pa), is the essence of holding the characteristics of selflessness and being apart from self, the general characteristic of self-luminous nature, and the essence of ultimate truth. To show its homogeneous cause, the scriptures explain the dharma of selflessness. Here, the homogeneous cause is the homogeneous cause that can be produced and can be obtained. Among them, being able to produce means that the cause can generate perfect wisdom without any inversion. Being able to obtain means that after the wisdom arises, it can obtain the unchanging perfection, which is suchness. These are all extremely excellent teachings, so they are scriptures. The words of outsiders do not have the ability to produce and obtain like the former, so they are not excellent. The twelve scriptures include: Sutra section, Geya section, Vyakarana section, Gatha section, Udana section, Nidana section, Avadana section, Itivuttaka section, Jataka section, Vaipulya section, Adbhuta-dharma section, and Upadesha section. Among them, the first is spoken from the mouth of the teacher, then it exists in the minds of sentient beings, and then it is written in books. Similarly, first, by focusing on this, wisdom arises from hearing and thinking, and then by practicing, the nature of dharma is obtained, so it is determined to be the lineage of homogeneous cause. Therefore, the teacher Vasubandhu said in the Commentary on Reasoning: "Born from the mouth of the teacher, pacifying the cataracts of the eyes of beings, auspicious. Place the source in the heart, why is this the nectar of the ears of sentient beings, and can eliminate all troubles, so you should truly think about its meaning. With these causes, always respectfully listen to the words of the Buddha as they should be." So it is said. Dharma has no birth or death and is free from elaboration, and all qualities are accomplished by relying on it. This praises the dharma of ultimate truth, and dharma is the supreme dharma. Among them, the dharma of ultimate truth has no birth or death, and is also free from elaborations such as permanence, cessation, coming, going, oneness, and otherness. Moreover, the supreme dharma is the nature of selflessness.

These elaborations are merely imputed by the power of clinging to self, so as soon as clinging to self ceases, these elaborations also cease. In the state of selflessness, these elaborations do not exist from the beginning, they are merely sudden imputations. Therefore, when that selflessness, which is free from elaborations, is contemplated with the three kinds of wisdom on selflessness, clinging to self and so on immediately cease, and one attains the common qualities of transcendence, such as entering the stream, and various noble fruits, as well as the uncommon qualities of the ten powers and fearlessness, and so on. Therefore, the noble ones are born from the unconditioned, as it is said. "Good cause, sacred Dharma" refers to the praise of the Dharma of the path. Here, "good" means definitely good, that is, the bliss of near peace. Its "cause" is that which produces, it generates the wisdom of selflessness, and that also obtains that definitely good. Therefore, before knowing exhaustion and non-arising, the arising of diamond-like samadhi is the ultimate good cause, and the wisdom between the path of seeing that tames the end should be known as the good cause. That itself is sacred, because it has been experienced by the noble ones, and because it protects from falling, it is called the sacred Dharma. To that I pay homage, as before. "Defilement obscurations and knowledge obscurations, having been eliminated in order by the antidotes, enter the bhumis..." and so on, this is praise of the noble Sangha. Here, "defilements" are what completely afflict the mind, that is, the six defilements such as desire. These themselves are obscurations, because they obscure the wisdom of knowing exhaustion and non-arising, and obstruct the path of seeing. Knowable things are the sphere of Dharma, which pervades everything, and is naturally luminous. The obscuration of that is clinging to the general characteristic of sound that expresses it, but in reality, it refers to all the types of conceptual thought of grasper and grasped. Both of these obscurations have many different divisions, therefore the word "pure" has multiple meanings. "By the two" refers to the wisdom of knowing the antidote of selflessness. "Having been eliminated in order" means that they are not abandoned all at once, but first the abandonments to be abandoned on the path of seeing are abandoned.
