Commentary on the Praise of the Three Jewels, Son of the Conquerors Commentary on the Praise of the Three Jewels Son of the Conquerors In Sanskrit: Tri Ratna Stotra Vritti. In Tibetan: Commentary on the Praise of the Three Jewels. Homage to the Bhagavan Manjushri Kumara! Homage to the Three Jewels, the masters of the three realms, etc., because they are the cause of generating all the fruits desired by sentient beings, therefore, homage to them. Homage to the Buddha, the chief! It is said, etc. The one who has completely abandoned all ignorance that is unmixed and endowed with similarity is the Buddha, like waking up from a deep sleep. Or, having abandoned non-afflictive ignorance, wisdom expands in all objects of knowledge, like a lotus in full bloom. Thus, they are praised for their perfection of abandonment and wisdom, which is the perfection of their own benefit. Considering the perfection of others' benefit, they are called "chief" because they have become great lords of the three realms. They are heavy because they emit everything completely, like a body becoming heavy and pressing down on the neck. This shows that they subdue everything by overpowering it. Or, because they bestow the precious qualities of non-perversion, they are the Lama. Homage to them is the supreme reverence of the three doors. Homage to the Dharma that protects! Thus, this protects from suffering in the lower realms and existence, and alleviates suffering and bestows happiness, therefore it is called protector. That itself is the Dharma, because it holds back from various downfalls. Moreover, whoever realizes that ultimate Dharma will not fall back into the lower realms and samsara. The cause of the lineage of realizing it is the Dharma of teaching, and the direct cause is the Dharma of the path, so they are also nominally called holders. Furthermore, the so-called protection shows the perfection of benefiting others. The so-called Dharma shows the perfection of holding one's own nature purely. Homage to them, as before. Homage to the great Sangha! Thus, these are the sons of the gods.

Because these individuals do not separate from the teacher and the view, they are the Sangha. Among them, not separating from the teacher is because they gain faith after understanding. Not separating from the view is because they have attained the pure wisdom of selflessness. Among them, whether they are Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, or Bodhisattvas, all noble ones who have abandoned the three pervasive afflictions, whether they are learners or non-learners, are the Sangha. The perfectly complete Buddha, because he has abandoned all obscurations to knowledge and has also perfected all accumulations of merit, should not be counted among the Sangha. Because he is worthy of being offered to by all beings of the three realms, including the supreme, learners, and non-learners, he is called the Great Arhat. Such non-separation is the attainment of one's own benefit, and it is said to be "great" in order to enable others to attain benefit. These are great because they greatly purify the merits of others, for both giving and fully enjoying increase the supreme merit arising from the wealth of beings. That is, those learners and non-learners, according to their respective situations, still have subtle attachments to desires for food, clothing, and so on, which must be abandoned through cultivation, and because they hold onto the previously ripened fruit of the five aggregates, they still need to be nourished by food and so on. The Buddha and Dharma are not like that. Paying homage to them is the same as before. The meaning of always paying homage to these three is easy to understand. The fully ripened fruit of such homage is the attainment of the chief of all the Buddha's excellent marks, the invisible crown protuberance. The result that corresponds to the cause is that when reborn in samsara, the head will become like an umbrella, and one will be delighted to pay homage to the Three Jewels. The dominant result is that external desirable objects will appear as if bowing down in the field of his consciousness, and will not become repulsive or unacceptable. Thus, because the praise of the Three Jewels, which was briefly stated, has been explained very clearly, supreme beings should generate even greater faith, and in order to accumulate their own stainless accumulations, the teacher Matichitra.
