Collection of Teachings by Drapa Gyaltsen KD14: 'The Method of Constructing the Image of Glorious Black Great Vajra - Wish-Fulfilling Jewel, Self-Liberation Upon Seeing' 'The Method of Constructing the Image of Glorious Black Great Vajra - Wish-Fulfilling Jewel, Self-Liberation Upon Seeing' 'The Method of Constructing the Image of Glorious Black Great Vajra - Wish-Fulfilling Jewel, Self-Liberation Upon Seeing' Namo Guru Ananda Punya (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Literal Chinese meaning: Homage to the Guru, Joyful Merit). Namah Shri Maha Kalaya (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Literal Chinese meaning: Homage to the Auspicious Great Black One). Here, I will briefly describe the method of constructing the image of Glorious Black Great Vajra, as a reminder to myself. First, gather materials such as clay, and a life-sustaining pole of the size required for the image, which can be made of iron, wood, etc., whatever is available. Perform the self-generation practice of the Protector deity and recite mantras. Then, bless the life-sustaining pole and materials with pacifying, semi-wrathful, and wrathful purifications, as if performing Rabné (consecration). When reciting, one can say: 'Now, I wish to construct the image of Black Great Vajra. I pray for the blessing of the life-sustaining pole and materials. All obstacles and misleading demons, I offer you tormas, road food, lamps, wine, etc. Take them and do not dwell here, go elsewhere quickly!' After reciting, perform the invocation of wrathful deities, etc. The same principle applies during the wrathful phase. During the wrathful phase, play fierce musical instruments. If there is Gugul incense and Protector incense, use it to fumigate the life-sustaining pole and materials, and drive away demons with mustard seeds, reciting Shasana (command). After that, arrange offerings and tormas as much as possible beside the life-sustaining pole and materials. Visualize the common protection wheel, and purify the life-sustaining pole and materials with Amrita (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Literal Chinese meaning: Nectar). Empty them with Svabhava (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Literal Chinese meaning: Self-nature). Within emptiness, from Pam (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Literal Chinese meaning: Seed syllable) arises a lotus, from Ram (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Literal Chinese meaning: Seed syllable) arises a sun disc, upon which all enemies and obstacles are suppressed. From Hum (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Literal Chinese meaning: Seed syllable) arises a dark blue vajra kila, its handle in the form of a wrathful deity, with five prongs, mouth open and bared teeth, with the syllable Hum (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Literal Chinese meaning: Seed syllable) at its center, emitting light, etc., generating the samaya being, inviting the wisdom being, bestowing empowerment, with Akshobhya as the crown ornament, making vows, offering tormas, entrusting activities, etc., like the torma offering ritual. Empowerment, sealing, etc., are all according to the sadhana ritual. Having done so, with Supratistha (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Literal Chinese meaning: Well-established) make the life-sustaining pole firm and stable. The samaya being and wisdom being merge into non-duality, transforming into a complete material made of various jewels, embodying the nature of the five wisdoms.' Recite and visualize in this way. As described in Vajrakila or Hevajra. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The ceremony should be held grandly. Erecting the life-tree must be done on the twenty-ninth day, which is the best. The craftsman must be a person who has received empowerment in the supreme mandala of the Lama and possesses vows and commitments, whether it is Vajra family, wrathful protector, etc., instantly visualize as the one who eliminates obstacles. On the left side, visualize his consort. If the craftsman is practicing the path of the Lama's protector, etc., it is okay not to visualize. His right hand should be visualized as the essence of method - the vajra, and the left hand as the essence of wisdom - the lotus, and through the union of method and wisdom, think that all actions are accomplished, and then gradually perform the rituals such as erecting the bone wood. If the statue is large, then at the left and right feet, in accordance with the appropriate method, write the three Tibetan letters 'བོད་' (bod, suppression), 'རྦད་' (rbad, curse), 'བསད་' (bsad, killing) on the three tips of the stake, and write 'མཱ་ར་ཡ་ཕཊ་' (māraya phaṭ, destroy Mara) on the tip, so that the two soles face outward and are placed in the heart of the lingam. Wherever the material for the life-tree and stake is, it is best to make it from the iron of swords that have killed many people, dogs, horses, etc. If not available, make it from sandalwood, red sandalwood, etc. If these are not available, make it from any suitable wood. However, avoid using poisonous wood, as it is the life-tree of demons and should not be used. For small statues, there is no fault of damage because it cannot be washed with water. After the statue is restored, perform the consecration and tsokhor, etc., according to the previous life-tree blessing ritual. However, even if purification is not completed, there is no contradiction. After that is finished, perform the enshrinement of mantras. For that, first, during the blessing of the materials, also bless the materials for writing the mantras, which are the materials for enshrinement. The writing material can be black silk, or if not available, black paper is also fine. Stack three sacred stones (བླ་རྡོ་, bla rdo, soul stone), stone slabs (རྡོ་ཆོ་ལོང་, rdo cho long, stone slab), and stones (གསུམ་བརྩེགས་, gsum brtsegs, three-layered stone). Write with gold, silver, cinnabar, or whatever materials are available. Mix a little of the Lama's hair, trustworthy incense cinnabar, and bone ashes into the cinnabar. If not available, there is no fault. The special materials are the menstrual blood of a young virgin who is not defiled by household dharma, which is also a self-arisen flower. Also, black guggul incense, and the blood from the sword of a hero killed in battle, mix a little fat, to write the letters. If these special materials are available with faith, that is the best. If you doubt whether these materials came from a true realized one, or do not believe, do not mix them, because protecting the Dharma also requires using these real materials as inner substances, otherwise it will become an obstacle and bring bad influences, so do not mix them. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
