Collected Teachings of Drakpa Gyaltsen KD10: Vajrakila Empowerment Conjunction - Awakening Wisdom Vajrakila Empowerment Conjunction - Awakening Wisdom Preliminary Vajrakila Empowerment Conjunction - Awakening Wisdom. Homage to Vajrakila! I prostrate to the Vajrakila deity assembly and the Lama. First, to the Vajra of gentle earth, I prostrate with my crown, possessing the three bodies and a gentle face. With six arms and four legs, subduing the six realms and four maras. I respectfully bow at the feet of Vajrakila. Through the four ripening empowerments, thoroughly purify the obscurations of body, speech, and mind of the Vajra disciple. In this life, to establish the root for attaining Buddhahood, I write this 'Empowerment Conjunction - Awakening Joy.' Therefore, this explanation of the Vajrakila disciple's empowerment conjunction, 'Awakening Wisdom,' has two parts: the preliminary and the main practice. First, the preliminary: The stages practiced by the Guru himself should be performed as in my composed mandala ritual, 'Opening of Intelligence.' Disciples, from one to twenty-five, not in pairs, having bathed, should be seated in rows. After the offering attendant has completed the scattering and gathering of flowers, the Guru says: 'For the sake of all sentient beings equal to the sky, may we attain the state of perfect Buddhahood. For that purpose, listen to and contemplate the profound empowerment of the Bhagavan Vajrakila's great mandala.' Generate the supreme mind of enlightenment and clarify the conduct of listening to the Dharma as it arises from the pure systems of the Great Vehicle, within the wheel of protection, including the charnel ground palace. Listen with the pride of whichever Yidam of the session you are. The Dharma to be listened to is this: All the inconceivable nectar of Dharma spoken by the perfectly enlightened Buddhas in accordance with the individual dispositions, thoughts, latent tendencies, and inclinations of those to be tamed can be categorized into the Lesser Vehicle and the Great Vehicle, or the Paramita and Secret Mantra Vehicles. Here, it is the Mantra Vehicle. According to the New Tantras, the master Buddhaguhya classified them into three sections, Virupa, the Lord of Yoga, classified them into four, and the master Arya Nagarjuna and his sons... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

但这里依据莲花生大师(pad+ma 'byung gnas)所著的《金刚事业次第根本释》(rdo rje las rim rtsa 'grel)坛城仪轨,萨迦巴大师所著的《共同普巴修法》(yang phur thun mong gi sgrub thabs),杰尊仁波切(rje btsun rin po che)所著的《普巴目录》(phur pa'i tho yig),以及这些的阐释者,吉祥上师索南坚赞(bsod nams rgyal mtshan)所著的《修法广中略三品》(sgrub thabs rgyas 'bring bsdus gsum), 易于理解的坛城仪轨,及其补充《珍宝璎珞》(rin po che'i do shal),以及《修法略品本尊成就明灯》(sgrub thabs bsdus pa bsnyen sgrub gsal byed gnyis)。

Although there are many ways of explaining how to divide the vehicles (theg pa), for example, some say it is divided into five vehicles, while Lama Lūhipa and others say it is divided into six. But now, according to the tradition of the Nyingma school (gsang sngags rnying ma), the vehicles are classified into nine levels. Among them, the common vehicle (thun mong ba) of pāramitā (pha rol tu phyin pa) is divided into three vehicles: Śrāvaka (nyan thos), Pratyekabuddha (rang sangs rgyas), and Mahāyāna (theg pa chen po). The uncommon vehicle (thun mong ma yin pa) of secret mantra (gsang sngags) is divided into six: Kriyā (kri ya), Upa (u pa), and Yoga (yo ga ni). The three sections of Action (bya), Performance (spyod), and Yoga (rnal 'byor) are the three outer tantras or three vehicles; Mahāyoga (ma hA yo ga), the great yoga, is the tantra of means; Anuyoga (a nu yo ga), the supreme yoga, is the tantra of wisdom; Atiyoga (a ti yo ga), the subsequent yoga, is the non-dual tantra, which is the three inner tantras or three vehicles, collectively known as the nine vehicles. Here, Anuyoga refers to the mother tantras (ma rgyud) residing in the six gates (sgo drug), and their activities ('phrin las), such as the root tantra of Vajrakīla (phur bu) Krodha Vajra (rdo rje khros pa bi to ta ma la), the hundred thousand sections of tantras, or the Vajra section (rdo rje'i rigs) extracted from the Tantra of Supreme Wisdom (rig pa mchog gi rgyud), which is the famous 'Root Section of Vajrakīla'. This text, which the great Sakya Paṇḍita (sa skya paNDi ta) retrieved from the earth at Shangsek Shing Monastery (shang sreg shing dgon par) and personally translated, is the root tantra. Karma Mala's (karma ma la) 'Garland of Actions' (las kyi phreng ba) is only a part of the explanatory tantra (bshad rgyud), so the tradition of the path described in those tantras, many schools arose during the early dissemination period (bstan pa snga dar). But here, based on the mandala ritual of Vajra Activity Sequence Root Commentary (rdo rje las rim rtsa 'grel) written by Guru Padmasambhava (pad+ma 'byung gnas), the Common Vajrakīla Sadhana (yang phur thun mong gi sgrub thabs) written by the Sakya master, the Vajrakīla Catalogue (phur pa'i tho yig) written by Jetsun Rinpoche (rje btsun rin po che), and the elucidations of these, the Three Sadhana Compositions (sgrub thabs rgyas 'bring bsdus gsum) written by the glorious lama Sönam Gyaltsen (bsod nams rgyal mtshan), the easily understood mandala ritual, and its supplement 'Jewel Rosary' (rin po che'i do shal), and the 'Condensed Sadhana, the Lamp Illuminating Accomplishment' (sgrub thabs bsdus pa bsnyen sgrub gsal byed gnyis). These works written by Salotsawa Jamyang Kunga Sönam Drakpa Gyaltsen Palsangpo (sa lo tsA ba 'jam dbyangs kun dga' bsod nams grags pa rgyal mtshan dpal bzang po), in the pure Sakya tradition (sa skya pa), will be used to confer the initiation into the mandala of the fifty-one deities of Vajrakīla (rdo rje phur pa lha lnga bcu rtsa gcig). Among them, there are two types of initiations: the upper activity (stod las) and the lower activity (smad las) of subduing enemies and obstacles (dgra bgegs sgrol ba'i dbang). This time, we will fully confer the four initiations of accomplishing enlightenment (byang chub sgrub pa'i dbang) of the upper activity. According to the mandala ritual: 'The person and place of the preliminary practice, the ground ritual and preparation, are fourfold.' First, regarding the characteristics of the person, that is, the actions of the guru and the disciple. The guru should be intelligent and familiar with the tantras, and possess samādhi...
