Collected Works of Dokhampa Sherab Gyaltsen JDol127: A Summary of Instructions on Transference (Pho Ba) 8-381 A Summary of Instructions on Transference (Pho Ba) A Summary of Instructions on Transference (Pho Ba) Oṃ Āḥ Hūṃ Hoḥ Haṃ Kṣaḥ Namaḥ! I prostrate with reverence at the feet of the venerable and holy Lama! The yogic awareness of transference into the realm of the clear light of Dharmata, Is an exceptionally special instruction. Although it is an oral transmission, I dare not write much without the permission of the great Khenpo Rinpoche. May the oath-bound hosts of Dakinis be tolerant, May it not be seen or heard by those who are not vessels, May the mighty ones bestow their blessings, And may it benefit those who are worthy vessels. For the yogic awareness of transference into the realm of Dharmata, One must first be accustomed to the profound path. This supreme path includes view, meditation, and conduct, One must fully realize them completely and without error. Realizing the nature of reality as it is, is the supreme view, Resting in the state free from elaboration is the supreme meditation, Those that become companions are the supreme conduct, Obtaining the nature from that is the supreme result. Emaho! All these dharmas are empty in their own essence, Therefore, these do not inherently exist. Although non-existent, appearances are merely illusions, Like the appearances in a dream. Therefore, these dharmas are like flowers in the sky, Like rabbit horns and barren women's children, In terms of their essential nature, They never truly exist. This illusion has deceived many beings, Although birth and death appear, in essence, there is no birth or death, Just as there is no birth or death for a barren woman's child. Although change appears, in essence, there is no change, Just as there is no change for a rabbit horn. Although going and coming appear, in essence, there is no going or coming, Just as there is no going or coming for a barren woman's child. Although increase and decrease appear, in essence, there is no increase or decrease, Just as there is no increase or decrease for a rabbit horn. Cause and effect, environment and beings, self and other, grasping and being grasped, etc., Dualistic appearances and dualistic dharmas, these are like flowers in the sky, In their essence, 8-382 They do not exist, but until illusion is removed, illusory appearances will continue to arise, Like a conch shell appearing yellow to someone with jaundice, Like dreams appearing to someone deceived by sleep, Like horses and elephants appearing when a magician is deceived by mantras, Because the jaundice of conceptual thought is increasing, Because one is deceived by the sleep of consciousness, Because one is deceived by the mantras that stir wind and mind, Whatever appears in the mind, all of this is illusion. The mind that gives rise to illusion is also an illusion, From illusion, actions and afflictions of illusion are created, Giving rise to the result of illusion. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Deluded appearances are taken. Again, because of making deluded disturbances, Alas! This deluded three realms of samsara, Is the source of all delusions, the suffering of delusion. Is the deluded dependent origination, the twelve links, The constantly revolving wheel of ignorance and delusion. Whatever thought is, is the consciousness, Whatever consciousness is, is ignorance of the true nature. Also, because it moves together with the breath, It is said that the attachment to change is completely deluded. If the attachment to change ceases, Then with the great bliss of unchanging great attachment, In the six chakras, traverse all the grounds and paths. Obtain the profound true nature, great emptiness and great bliss. From the accumulation of merit and the ocean of aspirations, And from the supreme blessing of the Dharmakaya, The various vast and extensive Rupakayas, Will pervade the sky and accomplish the benefit of all beings. Therefore, wishing to obtain such a supreme state, Understand the faults of samsara, the benefits of liberation, The difficulty of obtaining leisure and endowment, the impermanence of life, Like a butter lamp in the wind. Relying on this, meditate on the nectar of the glorious Lama's oral instructions, The method of naturally stopping the wind and mind. Bind the channels of the twenty-four lands, The sun, moon, and planets are caught in Rahu's mouth. The A (Tibetan: ཨ, Devanagari: अ, Romanized Sanskrit: a, Literal meaning: None) syllable burns, melting the Hum (Tibetan: ཧཾ, Devanagari: हं, Romanized Sanskrit: haṃ, Literal meaning: Hum) syllable, The stream of nectar completely fills the body, The descending and ascending, the rising and falling, The four joys melt into bliss, transforming into immutability. As this is perfected, the self-nature is immutable, The four joys and sixteen are spontaneously born. The self-nature is clear light, immutably and completely accomplished. The Buddha who is liberated from the beginning is Suchness. The primordial Buddha, self-nature co-emergent, Self-nature is natural, self-nature is spontaneously accomplished. Unborn, unceasing, without characteristics, without elaboration. Indestructible, unshakeable, without grasping or rejecting. All dharmas are the basis of primordial emptiness. The nature of reality pervades all. All dharmas are the basis of primordial purity. Self-nature is pure, possessing all. All dharmas are the basis of primordial solitude. All dharmas are the basis of primordial exhaustion. All dharmas are the basis of primordial cessation. All dharmas are the basis of primordial non-existence. The nature of reality is profound, like the eight qualities of water. The realm of emptiness possessing all supreme aspects. Possessing the essence of great bliss Bodhicitta. Emptiness with object, the body of compassion without object. E-vam (Tibetan: ཨེ་ཝཾ, Devanagari: एवं, Romanized Sanskrit: evaṃ, Literal meaning: Thus) supreme and Ah-Hum (Tibetan: ཨཱཿཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: आः हूँ, Romanized Sanskrit: āḥ hūṃ, Literal meaning: Ah Hum) wheel mandala.
