A Brief Explanation of the Sutra Compendium of the Teacher and Others A Brief Explanation of the Sutra Compendium of the Teacher and Others Now, to speak of the compilation of Vajra Yoga, known as Yoga Shri Kalachakra and so forth, this tantric method relies correctly on the truths of the mundane and supramundane. The Buddha, the Blessed One, has definitively revealed two kinds of meaning in the tantras and other tantras: one is through mundane convention, and the other is through ultimate meaning. Of these, what is taught through mundane convention is of provisional meaning, and what is taught through ultimate meaning is of definitive meaning. These two meanings should be understood by students from the oral instructions of the guru. Similarly, in all tantras and other tantras, there are two kinds of expression: one is through mundane convention, and the other is through ultimate meaning. What is through mundane convention has the characteristics of color, hand gestures, signs, and shapes. What is through ultimate truth is devoid of color, hand gestures, signs, and shapes. Of these, what is taught through mundane convention is a dharma fully contemplated by one's own mind for the sake of accomplishing mundane siddhis, both outer and inner. It bestows the fruit of mundane siddhis. What is taught through ultimate truth is devoid of dharma fully contemplated by one's own mind for the sake of accomplishing the supreme of all supramundane, the great seal siddhi. Like young women imprinting images on mirrors and the like, yogis manifest the clear light of their own minds directly in the sky, bestowing the fruit of the desired meaning. This fruit is the unchanging mind of blissful wisdom. The oneness of these two minds is the nature of wisdom and means, the great meaning of Vajra Yoga, the supreme, unchanging, primordial Buddha, the timeless wheel of the Blessed One Vajrasattva, without lineage, is widely known in all other tantras. The Blessed One himself, as the characteristic of the cause, in the manner of the goddesses, is the nature body from the Prajnaparamita.

Thus it was said. Similarly, in the summary made from the verses of the Ornament for Clear Realization, the four activities are definitely spoken of by Maitreya: the Svabhavikakaya and the Sambhogakaya, etc., similarly, the Nirmanakaya, the Dharmakaya including activities, the four aspects are truly proclaimed. Thus it is said. The Bhagavan himself is the characteristic of the fruit, in the manner of mantra, he is called the co-emergent joy and the co-emergent body, because he has abandoned the grasped and the grasper, transcended the nature of the discriminated consciousness, and does not abide in samsara and nirvana. The assembly of all Buddhas, and the vows of all goddesses, are also of the same taste with this wisdom body, this is the definitive meaning. Here, in order to diminish all attachments of the yogis, the Vajra Yoga is without lineage, abandoning permanence and annihilation, transcending worldly examples, completely abandoning the minds of existence and non-existence, like smearing ashes on a maiden's mirror, seeing directly without being measured by one's own mind, having a credible meaning, being all aspects, arising from the sky, Samantabhadra, possessing all powers, abiding in the nature of all sentient beings, being co-emergent joy, abandoning reason and example, for this example, existence and non-existence become one, because the dharma is different. For example, the worldly example, the vase and the dharma are different, therefore the sky flower is non-existent by all non-existence. Similarly, the sky flower and the dharma are different, therefore the vase exists by all existence, these two become examples because their dharmas are different from each other. Similarly, annihilation and the dharma are different, therefore existence exists by all existence. Existence and the dharma are different, therefore annihilation is non-existent by all non-existence. The term annihilation refers to nirvana, which is the characteristic of non-entity. Similarly, in the transcendental example, the vase and the sky flower become one, because the dharma is different. The vase and the sky flower are not one in the worldly conventional truth, because they contradict each other. Whatever exists in any way will not become non-existent,
