The Secret Treasury of the Noble Avalokiteśvara, called the Essence of the Unobstructed Wish-Fulfilling Wheel. The Secret Treasury of the Noble Avalokiteśvara, called the Essence of the Unobstructed Wish-Fulfilling Wheel. Homage to all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Thus have I heard. At one time, the Bhagavan was dwelling on the Mountain of the Righteous Ones, together with a great assembly of Bodhisattvas, great beings. Then, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Avalokiteśvara arose from his seat, arranged his robe, knelt on the ground with his right knee, joined his palms, and addressed the Bhagavan thus: "Bhagavan, I have a great Dharani called the Wheel of the Essence of the Great Lotus Sandalwood, which fulfills all wishes and accomplishes all deeds. If the Tathagata, with great compassion, would allow me to speak it, then by the power of the Bhagavan's blessing, I would speak it for the benefit of all sentient beings." Why is that? Bhagavan, this Dharani possesses the power of great splendor, and like a great wish-fulfilling jewel and a wish-fulfilling tree, it completely fulfills all wishes. Then, the Bhagavan praised the Bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara, saying, "Well done! Well done! Because you have approached in this way out of compassion for sentient beings, you may speak this unobstructed Dharani." The Bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara, having been thus permitted, arose, joined his palms, prostrated, and then returned to his seat.
