The Dharani called "The Essence of the Eleven-Faced Noble One's Vidya-Mantra". The Dharani called "The Essence of the Eleven-Faced Noble One's Vidya-Mantra". In Sanskrit: Ārya-mukha-daśāka-vidyā-mantra-hṛdaya-nāma-dhāraṇī. In Tibetan: The Dharani called "The Essence of the Eleven-Faced Noble One's Vidya-Mantra". Homage to all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas! Thus have I heard. At one time, the Blessed One was dwelling in Jetavana in Anathapindika's Park in Shravasti, together with a great community of monks, twelve hundred and fifty in number, and immeasurable, countless Bodhisattvas, great beings. The Bodhisattva Maitreya was the chief among them. Moreover, at that time, the Blessed One was surrounded by a great retinue of countless monks, nuns, laymen, laywomen, as well as gods, nagas, yakshas, gandharvas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, mahoragas, kumbhandas, rakshasas, humans, non-humans, and others, who were making offerings, serving, honoring, respecting, and venerating him, and he was teaching the Dharma of reciting secret mantras. Then, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Avalokiteshvara, surrounded by countless billions of hundreds of thousands of kotis of vidyadhara sages, approached the Blessed One, bowed his head to the Blessed One's two feet, circumambulated him three times to the right, and sat down on one side. He then addressed the Blessed One as follows: "Blessed One, I have a vidya-mantra essence called the Eleven-Faced One, which possesses great power and has been spoken by eleven kotis of Buddhas. 为了息灭邪魔鬼怪，以及为了使心中的愿望得以实现，我将宣说。世尊，我以这个明咒加持守护，无论是世间包括天神，包括魔，包括梵天，包括沙门和婆罗门等，凡是有人受持此明咒，或者念诵，或者书写并传播，都不会受到邪魔的作祟，不会有魔的障碍，不会受到武器、棍棒、毒药和诅咒等一切的损害。我所见的，此明咒所在之处，无论远近，都不会有任何越过结界的损害，除非是罪恶的业力必定成熟。世尊，因此要认识到此物的确是如此，以完全的信心来接受，不要有任何的怀疑。如果这样做，所有的邪魔鬼怪都会远远地避开，不会靠近，也不会找到机会。这个明咒的精华，是被所有佛陀共同赞叹和随喜的。所有如来都予以关注和守护。世尊，我清楚地记得，在恒河沙数劫之前，有一位如来、应供、正等觉，名为莲花百眼，无有顶髻，功德圆满增长光芒之王出世。我当时是位仙人，从那位世尊那里获得了这个明咒。获得这个明咒的时候，也见到了十方诸佛，也获得了无生法忍，因此要知道这个明咒具有强大的力量。因此，凡是具有完全信心的善男子或善女子等，如果想要受持、念诵这个明咒，就应该以恭敬心，一心不乱地忆念，并且经常在清晨

I will explain for the sake of pacifying evil spirits and obstacles, and for the sake of fulfilling the wishes of the mind. Blessed One, I have protected with this knowledge-mantra, whether it be the world with gods, with demons, with Brahma, with ascetics and Brahmins, etc., whoever takes this knowledge-mantra, or recites it, or writes and disseminates it, they will not be harmed by evil spirits, will not have demonic obstacles, will not be harmed by weapons, sticks, poisons, and all kinds of curses. I have not seen that in the direction where this knowledge-mantra resides, whether far or near, there will be any harm that exceeds the boundaries, except for the inevitable ripening of sinful actions. Blessed One, therefore, knowing that this thing is indeed such, accept it with complete faith, and do not have any doubts. If you do so, all evil spirits and obstacles will stay far away, will not come near, and will not find an opportunity. This essence of the knowledge-mantra is praised and rejoiced by all Buddhas equally. All Tathagatas contemplate and protect it completely. Blessed One, I clearly remember that in the past, as many kalpas as the sands of the Ganges River, there appeared in the world a Tathagata, Arhat, Samyak-sambuddha, named Lotus Hundred Eyes, without a crown, King of Rays of Light with fully increased qualities. At that time, I was a hermit, and I received this knowledge-mantra from that Blessed One. When I obtained this knowledge-mantra, I also saw the Buddhas of the ten directions, and I also obtained the forbearance of the unborn Dharma, so I know that this knowledge-mantra has great power. Therefore, if sons or daughters of good families, etc., who have complete faith, wish to take, hold, read, and recite this knowledge-mantra, they should respectfully hold it in mind with single-pointed concentration, and always in the morning

起身如法完全清净后，念诵此明咒一百零八遍，今生将获得十种利益。何为十？即常时身体无有疾病，常时被十方诸佛摄受，财富、珍宝、衣物、食物等无所匮乏而受用，一切怨敌皆能降伏且无有恐惧，为贤善僧众所敬重且能坦诚直言，毒药与鬼神无法加害且不会造成损害，一切兵器与棍棒皆无法造成损害，不会因水而亡，不会因火而亡，不会非时而亡。此外，还将获得四种功德之药益，即临终之时得见诸佛，永不堕入恶趣，不会因不舍痛苦而亡，将往生极乐世界。世尊，我能清楚忆起，从现在起，在恒河沙数劫之前，乃至更早之前，有如来、应供、正等觉，名为曼陀罗香之佛出世。当时我曾是一位大施主，从那位佛处获得了此明咒。刚一获得此明咒，便清净了四万劫的轮回。读诵和受持此明咒者，还将获得诸佛大悲智慧之精华，以及所有菩萨的解脱之法门。凭借其威力，凡是被囚禁在牢狱中的人，被判刑的人，面临死亡的人，以及遭受水、火、风、盗贼、毒药、诅咒、人和非人等各种痛苦折磨的一切障碍，都能完全解脱。

Having risen and purified completely according to the Dharma, reciting this vidyā-mantra one hundred and eight times will bring ten benefits in this very life. What are the ten? They are: constantly being free from diseases of the body; constantly being embraced by the Buddhas of the ten directions; enjoying wealth, jewels, clothing, and food without any lack; subduing all enemies and being free from fear; being respected by virtuous monastics and speaking frankly; being invulnerable to poisons and evil spirits, and not being harmed by them; not being harmed by any weapons or sticks; not dying by water; not dying by fire; and not dying untimely. Furthermore, one will obtain four kinds of medicinal benefits of merit: at the time of death, one will see the Buddhas; one will never fall into the lower realms; one will not die without abandoning suffering; and one will be born in the blissful realm of Sukhāvatī. Blessed One, I clearly remember that from now, countless kalpas ago, even before the sands of ten Ganges rivers, a Tathāgata, Arhat, Perfectly Awakened Buddha named Mandārava Fragrance appeared in the world. At that time, I was a great householder and received this vidyā-mantra from that Buddha. As soon as I obtained this vidyā-mantra, I purified forty thousand kalpas of saṃsāra. Those who read and hold this vidyā-mantra will also obtain the essence of the great compassion and wisdom of all the Buddhas, and the door to the Dharma of liberation of all Bodhisattvas. By the power of its strength, all those who are imprisoned in tight prisons, who have been sentenced, who are facing death, and all the obstacles of various sufferings from water, fire, wind, thieves, poisons, curses, humans, and non-humans, etc., will be completely liberated.
