At that time, lightning appeared, a meteor fell, and a thunderbolt descended. Then, King Bimbisara, along with his retinue, summoned the fortune-telling Brahmins and said: What is the cause, what is the reason that the sky is in such turmoil? The Brahmins replied: Such omens come from the treatise called "Twelve Eyes." We are not capable of handling it. In the first winter month, the waxing and waning phases, the eighth, fourteenth, and fifteenth days, if the sun's light becomes as dark as darkness, then virtuous, intelligent, and learned people will encounter great obstacles. On the sun of the Ashvini constellation, if a sun like smoke appears, revolving and spreading, then it will not rain for twelve years. On the sun of the Bharani constellation, if the sun turns like the color of gold, then the surrounding kingdoms will be destroyed, and a great famine will occur in the center. In the last winter month, on the sun of the Krittika constellation, if the sun becomes particularly bright, then the border regions will be destroyed, and it will not rain in the center. In the first spring month, on the sun of the Agra constellation, if the sun is dim, or if two suns appear, then disease will occur, and harmful obstacles will arise for the two kings' camps. In the middle spring month, on the sun of the Pushya constellation, if the sun becomes like darkness, and turns gray when the sun sets, then the great king will encounter obstacles. In the last spring month, at the time of the Bharani constellation, if the sun and moon are eclipsed, then the ministers will kill the king. In the first summer month, at the time of the Purva Bhadrapada constellation, if the sun turns red, then the king, ministers, and their territory will encounter harmful great obstacles. In the middle summer month, at the time of the Purva Ashadha constellation, if the full moon is eclipsed, then the territory will be turbulent, and plague and famine will occur. In the last summer month, at the time of the Mula constellation, if the sun and moon crack and hail appears, then great disasters will occur in that place. In the first autumn month, at the time of the Ashvini constellation, if the sun and moon rise at the same time, then a large-scale bloody conflict will occur in that territory.
