薄伽梵入灭之后，将正法托付给诸大国王，甚为稀有。先前逝去的佛陀入灭后，经过多少年正法的形象才会隐没？薄伽梵释迦牟尼入灭之后，正法将住世多久？之后，薄伽梵开示道：如此提问甚好。好好听着，我将宣说。我入灭后，正法的形象将住世两千年。菩萨月藏请问：薄伽梵，此正法最终将如何隐没？因何衰败？谁使其不存？开示道：我入灭之后五百年间，行持我教法的众生解脱者会增多。之后五百年间，行持禅定者会增多。国王和大臣以及普通众生也信仰正法，但行持也会逐渐减少。之后五百年间，宣讲正法、引导众生和使之解脱的导师会大量涌现。声闻阿罗汉则会减少。国王和大臣以及普通众生也只是听闻而已，不会修持和行持，也不会精进，信仰会减少。正法的护法们也会不悦，不信仰正法的众生则会比以前更加有权势。赡部洲的人类国王们也会互相征战，发生冲突。魔的种类也会增多。之后又是五百年，三百年间，安住于正法的天龙等众生护法们不会安住，正法将前往何处弘扬。众生会不信仰佛法。行持佛法的众生也不会如法行持。由于精进不足，成就也会减少。由四种颜色和四种味道组成的食物也会减少。气味和味道等也会变淡。人病、畜疫和饥荒也

After my passing into nirvana, the image of the sacred Dharma will remain for two thousand years. The Bodhisattva Moon Essence asked: Bhagavan, how will this sacred Dharma ultimately disappear? He said: After my passing into nirvana, for five hundred years, there will be many sentient beings who practice my teachings and attain liberation. Then, for five hundred years, there will be many who practice samadhi. Kings, ministers, and ordinary beings will also have faith in the sacred Dharma, but their practice will gradually decrease. Then, for five hundred years, many teachers will appear who will teach the sacred Dharma, guide sentient beings, and liberate them. Shravaka Arhats will become fewer. Kings, ministers, and ordinary beings will only listen, but they will not practice or cultivate, nor will they exert effort, and their faith will diminish. The protectors of the sacred Dharma will also be displeased, and sentient beings who do not have faith in the sacred Dharma will become more powerful than before. The human kings of Jambudvipa will also wage war against each other and engage in conflict. The race of demons will also increase.
