Fifth, Chapter on Treatises. Fifth, Chapter on Treatises. The Great Skillful Means Buddha Repaying Kindness Sutra, Volume Three. At that time, the Thus-Gone One went to teach the Dharma to the gods for ninety days for the sake of his mother, the goddess Lhamdze, and the gods. The people of Jambudvipa did not know where the Thus-Gone One was for ninety days. The great Maudgalyayana, who was foremost in miraculous powers, also searched with the power of his miraculous abilities, but could not find him even after searching in the ten directions. Like the venerable Near Protector, with the supreme divine eye, he looked in all the realms of the three thousand great thousand worlds in the ten directions, but did not see him. Similarly, all of the venerable's five hundred attendants searched, but did not see him. Thus, not seeing the Thus-Gone One, they were unhappy and their minds were tormented by sorrow. At that time, King Utrayana, not seeing the Thus-Gone One, developed an unhappy mind. To remember the Thus-Gone One, he made an image of the Thus-Gone One from ox-head sandalwood and made prostrations and offerings, also visualizing the Thus-Gone One as being present and abiding, and made offerings. At that time, the great king asked the six heretical teachers, "Where is the Thus-Gone One now?" The six teachers said to the king, "Great king, do you not know? The Shramana Gautama is a magician, that is how it is. The illusion of magic has no real substance. Our scriptures say that a magician's illusion will appear a thousand or two thousand years from now, so the Shramana Gautama is that very illusion." At that time, the venerable Near Protector went to the great king and said to the king, "Great king, do you know? The Thus-Gone One will now descend from the Heaven of Thirty-Three to Jambudvipa in seven days." Hearing these words, the king's mind became greatly joyful. He gathered the people of the country, cleaned and swept, arranged incense and flowers, hung silk banners, streamers, and parasols, and many foods and music, etc.

Various offerings were arranged and prepared. The six heretical teachers came there and said, "Are you arranging and preparing these various offerings to invite the king? Or are you inviting the prince?" They said, "No." "Then are you summoning the great minister? Are you summoning a Brahmin or a householder? If not, are you holding a feast for relatives and friends?" They replied, "No, we are inviting the Buddha Bhagavan." The six teachers said, "Who is called Buddha?" They replied, "He is the all-knowing one." Again they asked, "Who is this all-knowing one?" They replied, "He is the father of love and great compassion. Don't you know? King Śuddhodana's lineage is noble, virtuous, and supreme. From the very beginning of the first kalpa, one son of a great queen inherited the throne and became a Chakravartin king. In the middle, for two generations, they did not become Chakravartin kings, but they became kings of Jambudvipa. That king had three sons. The eldest was called King Śuddhodana. The middle one was called Brevoza. The youngest was called Food Nectar Food. King Śuddhodana had two sons. The elder was called Siddhartha. The younger son was called Ananda. King Brevoza had two sons. The elder was called Devadatta. The younger son was called Ananda. King Nectar Food had one daughter, called Daughter Nectar Taste. At that time, the best of the brothers, Prince Siddhartha, went outside the palace to stroll and watch, and upon seeing old age, sickness, and death, he became unhappy. He did not even eat, and his mind was filled with compassion. He thought, whether people are noble or lowly, all beings with form have such diseases and defects, and none can escape. So, at night, he fled from the palace and practiced asceticism under the Bodhi tree for six years, becoming known as the all-knowing one. He awakened to the wisdom of omniscience, manifested enlightenment, and possessed the ten powers and four fearlessnesses.

Possessing the eighteen unmixed qualities, he became known as the All-Knowing One. Seven days after his birth, his mother, the goddess Lhamdze, passed away and was reborn in the heaven of the Thirty-Three, where he taught her the Dharma for ninety days. Now, in seven days, he will go to Jambudvipa. At that time, the six heretical teachers, hearing these words, became jealous and tormented by extreme displeasure and sorrow. The six teachers and their retinues sat together and discussed: 'If the ascetic Gautama comes to this Jambudvipa, everyone will abandon us and offer to the ascetic Gautama, and we will become distressed, impoverished, and even our lives will be in danger.' So, the six heretical teachers thought again: 'We should quickly go to a place where many people gather and proclaim among them: Know this, everyone! The ascetic Gautama actually knows nothing. As a young child, he came from the palace of the Shakya clan, and sitting under the Bodhi tree, he claims to have attained the wisdom of knowing everything, but these words are lies and not true. Why? Because King Akhi called him to receive alms and only gave him horse gear, and even though he was slighted, he did not know it and went there, so he is not all-knowing. Furthermore, when asked of Ananda when he would enter into meditative absorption, Ananda replied that there were still seven days left. Also, when asked of Ananda why many birds make noisy sounds in the Konakamuni monastery, Ananda replied that the birds were looking for food. Since his mother died seven days after his birth, considering these things together, he is not all-knowing. He is inauspicious and very wicked. How is this evident? Because his mother died immediately after his birth. Also, one should serve and honor one's father, but he did not serve him, but got up and went to the mountains, he is ungrateful. His father, the king, took प्रजापती (Sanskrit Devanagari: प्रजापती, Sanskrit Romanization: Prajāpatī, Chinese literal meaning: Lord of creatures) Kyegu'i Dakmo (Tibetan) as his consort, but he did not treat her as a wife. Queen Kyegu'i Dakmo (Tibetan) suffered greatly.
