Second, the chapter on service. Second, the chapter on service. At that time, in that moment, in the place where many retinues had gathered, a lotus tree made of the seven precious substances appeared from that very spot of land, its trunk made of silver, its petals made of gold, its base made of crystal gem, and adorned all over with a net of pearls. Then, the Bhagavan Shakyamuni arose from his seat and sat in the lotus posture upon that lotus. As soon as he sat upon it, he manifested a completely pure body. From that body, he manifested the aggregates of bodies of the five paths of existence. From each aggregate of bodies, he manifested a hundred thousand myriad different forms. From each of those different forms, he manifested a hundred thousand aggregates of bodies. From each of those aggregates of bodies, he manifested aggregates of bodies equal to the number of grains of sand in the four Ganges Rivers. From each of those aggregates of bodies equal to the number of grains of sand in the four Ganges Rivers, he manifested aggregates of bodies equal to the number of atoms in the four continents. From each of those aggregates of bodies equal to the number of atoms, he manifested aggregates of bodies equal to the number of atoms in the three-thousandfold great thousand world system. From each of those aggregates of bodies equal to the number of atoms, he manifested aggregates of bodies equal to the number of atoms in a hundred thousand myriad kotis of Buddha-fields in each of the ten directions. Thus, until space was exhausted, and equal to the realm of Dharma, he manifested aggregates of sentient beings' bodies that were inconceivable in number. At that time, after the Thus-Gone One had manifested so many aggregates of bodies, he spoke to Ananda and the bodhisattvas, great beings, who had gathered and assembled from the ten directions, and to the many retinues, saying: "Sons of good family, today the Thus-Gone One will speak the true words of omniscient wisdom. Although the Dharma is beyond expression in words, the Thus-Gone One, through skillful means, will reveal names and signs for the Dharma that is without name or sign. For example, when the Thus-Gone One was first born and wandered in samsara, all those different aggregates of bodies, equal to inconceivable numbers of atoms, will be completely and fully experienced.

I, having experienced all the aggregates of the body in this way, there is no sentient being who has not been the parent of the Tathagata. The Tathagata also has no one who has not been the parent of sentient beings. For the sake of all who have become parents, he always practices what is extremely difficult to practice, and gives away what is extremely difficult to give away, such as the essence of limbs, head, eyes, brain, land, city, wife, son, daughter, cattle, horses, chariots of seven precious things, vehicles, clothes, food, drink, bedding, medicine for diseases, and all necessary things, nothing is not given away. With great effort and diligence, he guards the precepts, practices generosity, learns extensively, meditates on samadhi, practices wisdom, and from practicing all difficult practices, without weariness, without fatigue, and without interruption, he strives diligently, also to serve his parents, to be grateful, to repay kindness, to quickly place all sentient beings in the unexcelled, perfect, complete enlightenment, to fulfill the past aspirations of the Tathagata, therefore, it should be known that all sentient beings have great kindness from the Buddha, the Tathagata with great compassion does not abandon sentient beings, and always with extremely skillful means, to all sentient beings residing in the twenty-five existences of the three realms, for immeasurable eons, he cultivates equal love, and with skillful means endowed with equanimity, he acts, causing all sentient beings to realize emptiness, to realize the emptiness of phenomena, to realize the emptiness of the five aggregates, without regression, without sinking, without raging in emptiness. With skillful means, one should cultivate in the correct nature, without abandoning the three vehicles, with skillful means being proficient in learning the Dharma of realization, in order to practice the extremely profound and excellent realm of practice, one should clearly realize the nature of the Dharma, realizing that the Buddhadharma is not one from beginning to end, although understood, but individual ordinary people, due to confusion and delusion, are completely tormented by the three sufferings, and are in the ocean of suffering.
