Having vowed to say nothing with compassion, he made a commitment. Then the Lord of the Gods, Indra, spoke to the various celestial beings, saying: "O Various Workers, quickly prepare the lion throne of the gods! I myself shall bestow the empowerment upon King Shri Sena." Kausika (kauśika, Devanagari: कौशिक, Romanization: kauśika, Literal meaning: कौशिका) said, "Very well, I shall do so." Having heard the command of the Lord of the Gods, Indra, the celestial being Various Workers, in that very instant, manifested the lion throne of the gods, adorned with various jewels and hung with strings of pearls and clusters of pearls all around. Then the Lord of the Gods, Indra, grasping him with his own two hands, placed him upon the lion throne of the gods. Together with hundreds of thousands of gods, he made great offerings, striking all the celestial musical instruments, and bestowed the empowerment upon him as king, thus completing the empowerment. In that interval, through the power of the Bodhisattva, the earth shook in six ways, and the gods rejoiced and were delighted. They also rained down various kinds of flower showers and jewel showers, so that the entire Jambudvipa was covered with flowers and jewel showers up to the knees. The gods and humans, seeing those inconceivable riches, were amazed and filled with wonder, and they uttered verses especially for the occasion, proclaiming: "Emaho! The power of the merit of King Shri Sena! Emaho! How utterly wondrous!" Then the Lord of the Gods, Indra, together with hundreds of thousands of gods, made the Bodhisattva exceedingly happy and then departed to his own abode. The hermit dwelling in the mountains, along with five hundred attendants, praised the Bodhisattva exceedingly and then returned to his own hermitage. Then the Bodhisattva, revered by a great assembly of beings, became a king of Dharma for a long time. He satisfied all the lowly, blind, impoverished, and suffering beings of Jambudvipa with wealth, and firmly established them on the path of the ten virtuous actions. He pleased all six of the desire realm gods, and then at another time, together with hundreds of thousands of beings, he passed away and was reborn in the celestial realm of Tushita. The Blessed One declared: "O monks, that"

Monks, if you doubt or hesitate, thinking that the king named Auspicious Army at that time was someone else, you should not view it that way. In reality, I myself was the king named Auspicious Army at that time, and at that time, I completely gave up my own body. Monks, the queen of King Auspicious Army at that time, who was reborn as Victorious Light, is none other than this Renowned Holder Mother, and at that time, she was reborn as Queen Victorious Light. Monks, that supreme minister at that time, who was reborn as Great Wisdom, is none other than this monk Shariputra, and at that time, he was reborn as Minister Great Wisdom. Monks, the one who was reborn as the Lord of the Gods, Indra, at that time, is none other than this King Formidable Essence, and at that time, he was reborn as the Lord of the Gods, Indra. Monks, those thirty-three gods are none other than the eighty thousand gods who saw the truth together with King Formidable Essence. Monks, those assemblies of people in the city are none other than these Magadhan Brahmins and householders who came to me together with King Formidable Essence. Monks, the hermit who lived in the mountains at that time is none other than this great monk Maudgalyayana, and at that time, he was reborn as a hermit. The hermit Brahmin boy who begged me for Queen Victorious Light is none other than this Shakya daughter Saengmo, and at that time, he was reborn as a Brahmin boy. Monks, those two carpenters at that time were Devadatta and Kokalika, and at that time, they were reborn as two carpenters. By the power of that aspiration, such a manifestation of the Tathagata's miracles has occurred here. Monks, therefore, you should train yourselves in this way: 'We should give various gifts and perform various virtuous deeds.' You should train yourselves in this way. After the Blessed One had spoken thus, those monks rejoiced and had great faith in the words spoken by the Blessed One.
