་ཡང་ཁྱེའུ་ཡིན་པར་ཤེས་པས་བྲམ་ཟེ་ལ་གཏམ་སྨྲས་སོ། །བྲམ་ཟེས་དེ་སྐད་སྨྲས་པ་ཐོས་ནས་རབ་ཏུ་དགའ་མགུ་རངས་ཏེ་ཆུང་མའི་རིམ་གྲོ་ལྷག་པར་ཆེས་བསྐྱེད་དོ། །དེ་ནས་ཟླ་བ་དགུ་ཚང་ནས་བུ་ཁྱེའུ་ཞིག་བཙས་ནས། གསེར་གྱི་མདོག་ཅན་སྐྲ་མཐོན་མཐིང་དུ་འདུག་པ་བཟང་བ། མཛེས་པ། མཚན་ དང་ལྡན་པ་ཞིག་གོ །དེ་ནས་བཙས་སྟོན་བྱས་ནས་མཚན་མཁན་བཀུག་སྟེ་མཚན་ལ་བལྟས་ནས་མིང་སྦྱིན་པ་ཆེན་པོ་ཞེས་བྱ་བར་བཏགས་སོ། །ཁྱེའུ་དེ་ནི་རིམ་གྱིས་ཆེར་སྐྱེས་ནས་དབྱར་དགུན་དང་། སྟོན་དཔྱིད་ཀྱི་གནས་ཀྱང་སོ་སོར་བྱས་ཏེ། ལོངས་སྤྱོད་བྱེད་དུ་བཅུག་གོ །ཁྱེའུ་དེ་ཡང་ཡིད་གཞུངས་ཤིང་མཁས་པའི་བློ་དང་ལྡན་པ་ཞིག་པས་རིག་བྱེད་དང་གཙུག་ལག་རྣམ་པ་བཅྭ་བརྒྱད་ལ་སོགས་ཏེ། སྒྱུ་རྩལ་གང་ཡང་མི་ཤེས་པ་མེད་དོ། །ཕྱིས་སྦྱིན་པ་ཆེན་པོས་ཕ་མ་ལ་གསོལ་པ། བདག་ཕྱི་རོལ་ཏུ་འཆག་ཅིང་ལྟད་མོ་བལྟར་འགྲོའོ་ཞེས་བྱས་པ་དང་། དེའི་ཕ་མས་ཀྱང་བུ་འཆག་ཏུ་འགྲོའོ། །ཞེས་ལམ་སྲང་ཕྱག་དར་བྱེད་དུ་བཅུག་སྟེ། རྒྱལ་མཚན་དང་བ་དན་བསྒྲེང་ནས་མེ་ཏོག་གིས་གཏོར་ཏེ། བདུག་སྤོས་ཀྱི་བདུག་པ་ལ་སོགས་པ་ཡོ་བྱད་མང་པོ་བཤམས་ནས། སྦྱིན་པ་ཆེན་པོ་གླང་པོ་ཆེ་རིན་པོ་ཆེ་སྣ་བདུན་གྱིས་བརྒྱན་པ་ལ་བསྐྱོན་ཏེ། དྲིལ་བསྒྲགས། རྔ་བརྡུངས། རོལ་མོ་དང་སིལ་སྙན་དཀྲོལ་ཏེ། འཁོར་བརྒྱ་སྟོང་སྙེད་ཀྱིས་བསྐོར་ནས། གྲོང་ཁྱེར་གྱི་ཕྱི་རོལ་ཏུ་དོང་ངོ་། །ཡུལ་མི་ཐམས་ཅད་ཀྱིས་ལམ་གྱི་གཡས་གཡོན་དུ་ཁང་བུ་བརྩེགས་པའི་སྟེང་ནས། མིག་མི་འཛུམས་པར་བལྟ་ཞིང་འདིའི་བྱིན་དང་གཟི་བརྗིད་ནི་ཚངས་པ་དང་འདྲའོ་ཞེས་བསྒྲགས་སོ། །དེ་ནས་སོང་སོང་བ་ལས་མུ་ལྟོ་བ་དག་གོས་ཧྲུལ་པོ་གྱོན་ཞིང་སྣོད་ཆག་པ་དག་ཐོགས་ཏེ་ཅུང་ཟད་བསླང་ངོ་ཞེས་འབོད་པ་སྦྱིན་པ་ཆེན་པོས་ཐོས་ནས། དེ་དག་ལ་ཁྱོད་ཅིའི་ཕྱིར་འདི་ལྟར་ཉོན་མོངས་ཤིང་སྡུག་ཅེས་དྲིས་སོ། །དེ་ལ་ཁ་ཅིག་ནི་འདི་སྐད་དུ་བདག་ཅག་ལ་ཕ་མ་དང་། ཕུ་ནུ་དང་བུ་སྨད་དང་གཉེན་བཤེས་མ་མཆིས་པས་སྡུག་གོ་ཞེས་ཟེར་རོ། །དེ་ལ་ཁ་ཅིག་ནི་བདག་ཡུན་རིང་དུ་ནད་ཀྱིས་བཏབ་པས་མི་སོས་ཏེ་སྡུག་ཞེས་ཟེར་རོ། །དེ་ལ་ཁ་ཅིག་ནི་བདག་བག་མ་བྱས་པས་ཆོམ་པོས་བཅོམ་སྟེ། ཅི་ཡང་མི་བདོག་པས་སློང་མོ་བྱེད་དོ་ཞེས་ཟེར་རོ། །སྦྱིན་པ་ཆེན་པོས་དེ་སྐད་སྨྲས་པ་ཐོས་ནས་མཆི་མ་དཀྲུགས་ཏེ་སོང་ངོ་། །དེ་ནས་ཡང་ཕ་ཟད་ཅིག་ན་ཤན་པ་དག་སྲོག་ཆགས་བསད་ནས་པགས་པ་བཤུ་བ་དང་། དམྱལ་གཏུབ་པ་དག་མཐོང་ངོ་། །སྦྱིན་ པ་ཆེན་པོས་ཨེ་མ་ཧོ་འདི་དག་ཅི་བྱེད་དྲིས་ན། བདག་ཅག་ནི་ཕ་མེས་རྒྱུད་ཀྱི་འདི་འདྲ་བའི་གསོད་པའི་ལས་བྱེད་དེ། འདི་མ་བྱས་ན་མི་འཚོའོ་ཞེས་ཟེར་རོ། །དེ་ལ་སྦྱིན་པ་ཆེན་པོ་ངོ་མཚར་དུ་གྱུར་ནས། ལྟ་མི་ཕོད་པར་སོང་ངོ་། །དེ་ནས་ཕ་ཟད་དུ་ཕྱིན་པ་དང་། ཞིང་པ་དག་ཅིག་ཞིང་རྨོས་ཏེ། ཞིང་རྨོས་པའི་ཤུལ་དུ་སྲིན་བུ་མང་དུ་བྱུང་བ་ལས་བྱ་མང་པོས་འབུ་དག་ཐུ་ཞིང་ཟ་བ་མཐོང་བ་དང་དེ་དག་ལ་ཅི་བྱེད་ཅེས་དྲིས་ན་བདག་ཅག་ནི་ཞིང་རྨོས་ཏེ་ས་རློགས་པའི་ཤུལ་དུ་ས་བོན་བཏབ་ནས་ཕྱིས་མང་དུ་སྐྱེས་ཏེ། དེས་མང་དུ་འཚོ་ཞིང་རྒྱལ་པོའི་ཕྱིར་ཡང་འབུལ་ལོ་ཞེས་ཟེར་རོ། །སྦྱིན་པ་ཆེན་པོས་དེ་ལ་ཡང་ངོ་མཚར་དུ་གྱུར་ནས། ཕ་ཟད་སོང་བ་དང་། རྔོན་པ་དག་བྱ་རྒྱ་དྲེས་པ་དང་། རྙི་བཙུགས་ནས། བྱ་རྣམས་བཤོར་བ་དང་སེམས་ཅན་དག་བྱ་རྒྱ་དང་རྙིས་ཟིན་ནས་ལུས་བརྡབས་ཤིང་འཐེན་ཀྱང་མ་ཤོར་ཏེ་སྙིང་རྗེའི་སྐད་ཕྱུང་སྟེ་ཤིན་ཏུ་འཇིགས་སྐྲག་པ་དག་མཐོང་ནས། ཁྱོད་ཅི་བྱེད་ཅེས་དྲིས་ན་བདག་ཅག་ཀྱང་རྒྱུད་ཀྱི་འདི་འདྲ་བ་གསོད་པའི་ལས་བྱེད་པས་འཚོའོ་ཞེས་ཟེར་རོ། །སྦྱིན་པ་ཆེན་པོས་དེ་སྐད་སྨྲས་པ་ཐོས་ནས། ཤིན་ཏུ་ཡི་མུག་སྟེ། ཡང་ཕ་ཟད་སོང་བ་དང་། ཉ་པ་དག་ཉ་རྒྱ་བཙུགས་པ་དང་མང་དུ་ཟིན་ཏེ། ཐང་ལ་ཕུང་པོར་སྤུངས་ནས་ད་དུང་ཡང་འགུལ་བ་དག་མཐོང་ནས། འདི་དག་ཅི་བྱེད་ཅེས་དྲིས་ན། བདག་ཅག་རྒྱུད་ཀྱིས་ལས་གཞན་མེད་དོ། །འདི་ལྟར་ཉ་བཤོར་ཞིང་འཚོའོ་ཞེས་ཟེར་རོ། །སྦྱིན་པ་ཆེན་པོས་འདི་ལྟ་བུ་དག་མཐོང་ནས་འདི་སྙམ་དུ་བསམས་སོ། །སེམས་ཅན་འདི་དག་ནི་དབུལ་ཞིང་ཕོངས་པས་བགོ་བ་དང་། བཟའ་བའི་ཕྱིར་འདི་ལྟ་བུའི་ཁ་ན་མ་ཐོ་བའི་ལས་གསོད་པ་ལ་སོགས་པ་བྱེད་དེ། འདི་དག་ནི་ཚེ་འཕོས་མ་ཐག་ཏུ་ངན་སོང་གསུམ་དུ་ལྷུང་སྟེ་མུན་པ་ནས་མུན་པར་འགྲོ་ཞིང་ཐར་པའི་དུས་མེད་དོ་སྙམ་བསམས་ནས། ཕྱིར་ཁྱིམ་དུ་འོངས་ཏེ་ཉིན་མཚན་དུ་དེ་སེམས་ཤིང་མི་དགའ་ནས་ཕའི་དྲུང་དུ་སོང་སྟེ། ཕ་ལ་བདག་གསོལ་པ་ཞིག་མཆིས་ཀྱིས་གནོང་ཤིག་ཅེས་སྨྲས་སོ། །ཕས་ཀྱང་བུ་ཁྱོད་ཅི་ཟེར་སྨྲས་པ་བཞིན་དུ་བྱའོ་ཞེས་སྨྲས་སོ། །ཡབ་བདག་སྔོན་ཕྱི་རོལ་ཏུ་འཆག་ཏུ་མཆི་མཆི་བ་ལས། མི་མང་པོས་གོས་དང་ཟས་ ཀྱི་ཕྱིར་ཐམས་ཅད་ཉོན་མོངས་ཏེ། གཅིག་ལ་གཅིག་གསོད་པ་དང་། བརྫུན་དང་དབང་ཟ་བ་དང་མི་དགེ་བའི་ལས་རྣམ་པ་སྣ་ཚོགས་བགྱིད་པ་མཐོང་ནས་དེ་དག་ལ་སྦྱིན་པ་བགྱིད་པར་བསམས་ཀྱིས། ཡབ་ཀྱི་བང་མཛོད་ཆེན་པོ་ལས་ཕོངས་

Also, knowing that it was a boy, he spoke to the Brahmin. Hearing those words, the Brahmin was overjoyed and served his wife even more diligently. Then, after nine months, a baby boy was born. The boy was golden in color, with dark blue hair, well-formed, beautiful, and possessed auspicious marks. Then, after the birth ceremony, they summoned a name-giver to look at the marks and named him Great Giving. The boy gradually grew up, and his residences for spring, summer, autumn, and winter were also different, allowing him to enjoy prosperity. The boy was also kind-hearted and possessed intelligent wisdom, so he mastered the Vedas and eighteen kinds of crafts, etc., and there was no art he did not know. Later, Great Giving asked his parents, "I want to go outside for a walk and watch the sights." His parents also said, "Son, go for a walk." So they had the roads swept, raised banners and flags, scattered flowers, and arranged many items such as incense. Great Giving rode on an elephant adorned with the seven precious jewels, with announcements, drums beating, music and cymbals playing, surrounded by hundreds of thousands of attendants, and went outside the city. All the residents watched without blinking from the top of the stacked houses on the left and right sides of the road, and proclaimed, "This person's power and glory are like Brahma." Then, as they went on, Great Giving heard some hungry people wearing ragged clothes and carrying broken vessels, calling out, "Give a little bit!" Great Giving asked them, "Why are you so troubled and sad?" Some of them replied, "We have no parents, siblings, children, or relatives, so we are sad." Others said, "I have been sick for a long time and cannot recover, so I am sad." Still others said, "I was robbed by thieves after getting married, and I have nothing, so I beg." Hearing these words, Great Giving went away with tears in his eyes. Then, a little further on, he saw some butchers killing animals and skinning them, and he also saw some people cutting up criminals.

The Great Giver asked them, "What are you doing?" They said, "We are doing this kind of killing work passed down through generations. If we don't do this, we cannot live." The Great Giver was very surprised by this and left, unable to bear to watch. Then, he went further and saw some farmers plowing the fields. After plowing, many insects appeared in the fields, and many birds were pecking and eating the insects. He asked them, "What are you doing?" They said, "We plow the fields, turn the soil, and then sow seeds. Later, many crops will grow. We live on these crops and also offer them to the king." The Great Giver was also very surprised by this and continued on. He saw some hunters spreading nets and setting traps to catch birds. Some beings were caught in the nets and traps, struggling and pulling but unable to escape, crying out pitifully and being very frightened. He asked them, "What are you doing?" They said, "We also make a living by doing this kind of killing work passed down through generations." The Great Giver heard them say this and felt very disgusted. He went further and saw some fishermen setting up fishing nets and catching many fish. They piled them up on the shore, and the fish were still moving. He asked, "What are you doing?" They said, "We have no other profession passed down through generations. We live by catching fish like this." The Great Giver saw these scenes and thought to himself, "These beings are poor and destitute, and for the sake of clothing and food, they do such evil deeds as killing. Immediately after they die, they will fall into the three lower realms, going from darkness to darkness, and there will be no time for liberation." Thinking this, he returned home, pondered this day and night, and felt unhappy. Then he went to his father and said, "Father, I have a request. Please grant it." The father said, "Son, tell me what you want, and I will do as you say." "Father, when I went out to play before, I saw many people troubled for the sake of clothing and food, killing each other, lying, oppressing the weak, and doing all kinds of unwholesome deeds. I thought of giving alms to them, but I am afraid that your great treasury will become empty because of it."
