The lords of power, the lords of desire, the Jainas, and those who speak of no cause, in order to refute those who say that these examples of the ascetic Gautama, by the example of recitation, these aggregates and, the two consciousnesses are not separated, and the consciousness will be transferred to the other side, therefore the remaining examples are shown. By the example of the lamp, the aggregates exist simultaneously in both this and the other. In order to refute those who say this, the remaining examples are shown. By the example of the mirror, because it is a similar example, a hunchback is born from a hunchback, and white is born from white. In order to refute those who say this, the remaining examples are shown. By the example of the seal, it is certain that a god is born as a god after being transferred, and a human is born as a human after being transferred. In order to refute those who say this, the remaining examples are shown. By the example of the burning glass, because it is a dissimilar example, a bad rebirth is achieved by virtue, and a high rebirth is achieved by non-virtue. In order to refute those who say this, the remaining examples are shown. By the example of the seed, one consciousness grows into many. In order to refute those who say this, the remaining examples are shown. By the example of sourness, because it is an example of experience, those who have a history of gods are born as gods even if they have not done virtuous merit. Those who have a history of bad rebirths are born in bad rebirths even if they have not done non-virtuous deeds. In order to refute those who say this, the remaining examples are shown. By the example of sound, because it is an example of an agent, it does not arise from causes and conditions. In order to refute those who say this, the remaining examples are shown. Therefore, eight examples are shown. O great king, life ends, there is no future life, nor is it annihilation and cessation. This life is not transferred to the other side without being constant and unchanging. Without relying on this life, one will not take birth in the other. Even if I think, "I will take this birth," I will not take birth. Even if I rely on the great lord of power and so on, and think that I will be born in the heavens, it is not so. Even if I think that I will be born wherever I want in the heavens and bad rebirths, it is not so. Even if I do nothing and think that I will be born without relying on causes and conditions, it is not so. It is not true to say that this aggregate is destroyed and there is nothing after death. After this life is transferred, the deceased is there

Because it continues to exist in the desire realm, it is not true to say that whatever one does here, one will not take rebirth. It is also not true to say that the consciousness of this life does not cease, and that consciousness takes rebirth. It is also not true to say that the aggregates of this life and the next exist simultaneously. It is also not true to say that a cripple is born from a cripple, or that white is born from white, and so on. It is also not true to say that a god is born as a god when he dies, or that a human is born as a human when he dies. It is also not true to say that virtue leads to bad rebirths, or that non-virtue leads to good rebirths. It is also not true that consciousness increases from one to many. It is also not true that one is born as a god even without virtue, or that one is born into a bad rebirth even without non-virtue. It is also not true that rebirth is caused by the agent. Why are these not true? In the example of recitation, in order to eliminate the fault of those who say that "this consciousness does not cease and will take rebirth in the next life," the example of the seed is given: if the seed does not rot, then the sprout will grow, then those who speak of self are right, but the seed rots and changes from its previous state, becomes different, and then the sprout grows. In the example of the lamp, if one lamp is lit from another, because both lamps exist, the aggregates of this life and the next exist simultaneously. In order to eliminate this fault, the example of sound is given: if no one speaks, no sound will be produced. Because they do not arise simultaneously, the aggregates also do not arise simultaneously. In the example of the mirror, in order to negate the statement that "a cripple is born from a cripple" because of similarity, the example of the flint is given: because fire, which is different from it, arises from the flint. The example of China is that gods are born as gods when they die, and humans are born as humans when they die. In order to eliminate this, the example of recitation is given: the example of this is the lama, and the example of the other is the student. Because they are different, the lama is not the student, and the student is not the lama. The example of the flint is an example of dissimilarity: in order to eliminate the statement that virtue leads to bad rebirths and non-virtue leads to good rebirths, the example of the lamp is given: a different lamp does not arise from a lamp. Just as a lamp arises from a lamp, it is reasonable that virtue leads to good rebirths and non-virtue leads to bad rebirths. In the example of the seed, consciousness increases
