It is not as asked. When the gods pass away, they are reborn as gods and do not take birth in other realms. Similarly, when humans and other beings pass away, they are not reborn in other realms, but are reborn in their respective previous realms. O Great King, humans were originally transformed from gods, and the three lower realms arose from humans practicing non-virtue. Therefore, when gods and others pass away, they are reborn in other realms. O Great King, if it were as the Great King said, that the six realms of beings as they are now, whether many or few, would remain so forever, then, because humans practice more non-virtue, look at how the three lower realms would increase. O Great King, these Arhats of the present time have arisen from humans. If beings of each realm did not mix and were reborn in their respective realms, it would be impossible. It would also be impossible to attain the fruit of Arhatship. O Great King, therefore, by the power of virtuous and non-virtuous actions, one will be reborn in different realms such as the heavens and the lower realms. O Great King, the Great King asked whether the gods pass away and are reborn as humans and others. It is indeed so; it is indeed so. O Great King, the Great King said, 'Do all sentient beings, when they pass away, become completely non-existent, like ashes after a fire is extinguished, with no rebirth at all?' It is not so. O Great King, for example, if there is a seed, there will be fruit. This life is like a seed, and the next life is like fruit. O Great King, the sun rises and gradually sets, becoming darkness, but it rises again the next morning. Similarly, this life passes away and takes another rebirth. O Great King, if there were no rebirth after passing away, beings would be exhausted. O Great King, even the grass and trees outside wither with the change of seasons, but they grow again. Similarly, the karma and afflictions of sentient beings are like the changing seasons.

They are born and die due to karma. Therefore, great king, you should know that the afterlife definitely exists! O great king, great king, worldly people say that all sentient beings, after passing away from here, fathers, grandfathers, great-grandfathers, etc., from beginningless time, those of the same kind who have been passed down from one to another, do not take birth in the next world, but live together as they do in this life. Is that so? The Blessed One replied: O great king, in this life, fathers and sons, etc., appear to each other because physical objects appear to each other. It is not that minds see each other. If this form aggregate is destroyed and no longer exists, how can minds appear to each other and accompany each other in the next life? The fathers, grandfathers, great-grandfathers, etc., who have passed away, are not seen even by the descendants who have form and have not yet passed away, so how can the fathers, grandfathers, great-grandfathers, etc., who have passed away and have no bodies, see each other and accompany each other? O great king, furthermore, even when fathers, sons, and many brothers accompany each other in this life, they only appear as separate forms, and one's own mind cannot see itself, so how can the minds of siblings see each other? How can they see each other after death? How can siblings, grandfathers, great-grandfathers, etc., appear and accompany each other in the next life? O great king, if the earlier grandfathers from beginningless time and the present descendants accompany each other in the next life, then the many people of different castes, clans, regions, and categories who are now enemies of each other, and those who live in different places, who have the same clan, and whose language and clothing have not been heard or seen, if they are separated from the same original grandfather, then what is the boundary between siblings, grandfathers, etc., who accompany each other and those who do not? Which siblings should be taken as the standard? From the first grandfather to the present lineage between siblings, if they are as loving and sorrowful to each other as the present siblings, then which ones accompany each other? Which ones do not accompany each other? Now people say separately, "This is our grandfather!" Region and
